OK, I got tired of having the GPS I use for APRS (an AvMap G5) being wobbly and falling off of the suction-cup mount, so I made a bracket to mount it above the rear-view mirror of my Land Cruiser, using the same attachment bolts as the mirror. Used a scrap piece of mild steel to make this bracket; the top two holes are for the mirror mount bolts to go through. The bottom two holes fit the ProClip ball-joint mount for the GPS:
Bracket with the female half of the ProClip movable mount attached:
Mount bolted on with the mirror, and the GPS attached:
I still need to hard-wire in the power, but didn't have time to do that today. Going on a short trip through the Texas Hill Country tomorrow and Sunday: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54817
I'll be beaconing APRS the entire time, watch us here: 1911's APRS beacons and route
