Hey guys, been lurking around this forum for years, but only recently joined.
I have had a few 4x4 vehicles over the years, used for touring so will start wit those and build up to the triton.

aad.sized.jpg

80 series cruiser- limited edition winter 1996 4.5 petrol straight six

aab.sized.jpg

aav.sized.jpg

105 series cruiser purchased new, live axle 4.2 diesel GXL (non turbo)

moved to the city so sold the landcruiser for something a bit smaller.

aak.sized.jpg

NG pajero imported from Japan
this had 2.5 intercooled turbo diesel with a 4 speed auto, and when I got it had 60,000kms on it:Wow1:

I liked this little Paj, modified it up a bit and added 255/85/16 tyres and did a few trips.
bit hard to fit all the things for touring and fit 4 people on board, but we managed- for a while.....

and then came the triton.....

ordered new and had to wait for one with a factory rear difflock.

aax.sized.jpg

as delivered, upgraded tyres, ARB bull bar and canopy
aay.sized.jpg

and some stuff on the inside, still required some mods to complete- this has been my driver for the past 6 and a bit years.
I have put so much time and money into this, that I think it is a keeper.

I have had quite a few iterations of suspension, starting out with Bilstein shocks, but the supplied springs were too short and also hard.
so eventually upgraded to longer dobinson springs

The triton has also had a few iterations of wheels and tyres, I like to experiment
my current offroad rims are from Toyota prado (wider offset) and tyres are 34" simex centipedes

and for touring it is 265/70/17 MTR on factory rims

the triton has been set up where possible to do a multiple of tasks.

I like the rough weekend trails, but also like solo touring and then towing a offroad caravan when with the family

getting it a stage where it can comfortably do all these tasks has been difficult.

The triton now sports front and rear air lockers

dvd headrest players, I have also changed out the factory sloth seats to factory powered leather seats

changed out the ARB glass for a piece of alloy and attached maxtrax

changed out my spotlights from hella 4000 compacts to hella 4000 LED

recent modifications has been to change out the diff ratios from 4.1 to 4.6 (these were sourced from a pajero)
also added rear disc brakes and changed out the shocks for longer travel

and sometimes it goes wrong
even winch twin diff locks and mud tyres couldn't get us out of spending a night on the side of the road.

just adds to the adventure.

Hi,
Great pics brings back a few memories of places we have been to.
Hey a question for you and your wife, what do you think of your weber BBQ to cook with?
And what model is it?

Hi,

Hey a question for you and your wife, what do you think of your weber BBQ to cook with?

we love the ease of the weber and the stuff cooked from it, always seems to cook nice easy food when on camp- I even take it when on a solo expedition camping in a swag- just add gas for a nice feed- it is big though....
we use a 220 (so high topped with temp gauge) just that bit bigger for roasts and ease of having space for cooking for 4 or more as required
con- its size, I originally used a box with a custom extended height lid, and then finally found a expedition dust proof box from "trade tools" that would fit height and width, it fits in the triton tub along side the evakool 60 fridge freezer and is approx the same height so it works.
if it was for the van I would struggle to find a spot, but would look to down size as I like how it cooks
