AT Tacoma Habitat: Official Thread

Thanks Mario. Sounds good!

The lift gate is sealed on top of the tailgate door by means of an automotive grade bulb seal. We found this to be very effective on both the 2nd and 3rd Gen Tacoma. The lift gate is locking. The tail gate and lift gate may be opened independently of each other. While 3rd Gen owners will benefit from the factory locking tailgate, 2nd Gen owners will need to add a locking mechanism like the Pop and Lock for tailgate security http://www.popandlock.net/manual-tailgate-lock/toyota/tacoma

I read on some earlier posts that AT would be taking orders on 3rd Gen Habitat sometime in May. Has anyone been placed on the list? I've emailed them a few times, but haven't heard back - I imagine they are pretty swamped with 2nd Gen builds right now.

Graton, yes we are super busy with Habitat builds, vehicle builds, and trailer builds right now. Unless something happened with your e mail getting lost in cyberspace I'm sure we have it and we will get to adding you to the list. If you want to resend the email to me I will pass it on to the sale department. My e mail is martyn at adventure trailers dot com.

Just posted a few low resolution videos up to our YouTube channel, higher resolution copies will be available on Monday.

The first video is of the installation process.

The second video is of the opening sequence.

The third video is of the closing sequence.

Well that pole is trick!

Looking forward to taking a look in a couple weeks.

Considered the option of a full tailgate replacement doors for the fullsize trucks? The tailgate on my PowerWagon is way up there.

Great videos.

Does this mean that we can expect the habitats for 3rd gen tacomas to be available to order sometime soon?

These videos and the xoverland build have got me excited.

Just a stupid question here. I camp in bear country. If a bear were to be curious and pull on the roof rack while i'm sleeping in my bed, am I going to be royally ********* when I slide head first towards the ground? Or do you think there's a chance the deployed bed can handle 1400lbs of bear meat hanging off the rails like a jungle gym?

PS-Need some help with pictures + videos? I'm semi experienced.

We haven't tested your potential bear encounter, but the bear would exceed the 600lb limitation we have placed on the sleeping area. To place this in some perspective, and having lived in bear country for 25 years, a bear will break your RTT platform, tear the doors off you truck, camper, trailer, 4X4 and pretty much get where ever he or she wants to go.
