Looking to go taller than 32 when these wear out. looking for this size or bigger that you are running without wheel spacers. I have a 3.5 susp lift. want to stay between 33-34"
Who makes a 285/80R17??? The tallest I've ever been able to find are 285/75R17's made by Toyo and Nitto. BFGoodrich makes this size tire in standard sizing, 34x10.5R17. The "regular" 285-width tire is a 285/70R17 and they're only a little bit taller than the OEM 255/75R17's so you probably won't be happy. A 285/75R17 will measure close to a true 33" if that's what you're looking for.
I for one would LOVE a tire available as a 285/80R17, or even better a 285/85R17, but so far besides Interco, only Toyo/Nitto and BFG have decided to embrace the narrower sizes.
As for your question, YES - if anyone made a 285/80R17 tire, they would fit perfectly on your 17x7.5 tires. I've been running 315/70R17 (a.k.a. 35x12.5R17) tires on my OEM JK wheels with Spidertrax wheel spacers since the beginning, and I have had zero problems and been nothing but pleased with the traction and even wear. 285's are the perfect width for an oversize diameter tire on your 7.5" rims.
