Another One.... Ambulance that is

Well Im back in the ambo game! After a short hiatus to rescue some barn find Porsches and a lotus I have purchased a 1996 E350 2wd Wheeled Coach. I have never owned a 2wd Ambo and usually seek out 4wd units. BUT I have always wanted to do a UJOR build, and figured this would be a good starting point. It has everything else I look for in my ambos including pass through cab, side window, and box speakers. I have not 100 percent decided if I want to tackle the UJOR kit here in the winter time, that being said I have already begun doing my standard conversion.

IF anyone has personal experience with doing a UJOR kit in their driveway I would love to hear from you.

So far I have installed a new Alpine bluetooth head unit, laminate floors, modified a cabinet to house the flat screen on a pull out swivel mount so you can see it from anywhere inside or out. I decided to try Shiplap as my interior dress up, just to try something new.

Here are some pics thus far...

Installed the shower today.. Rerouted the wiring for the VAC pump to power the Water pump. I have done this in the past and has worked well, given there is already a switch. Also painted the lenses black so the rig will pass VA inspection.

Today I was able to paint the interior accent wall which is a nice blue. I also stained the birch wood bed and bench with a light gray stain. On the dark side of the wood it really brings out some rich character. On the light side of the wood its more of a gray tone which matches the floors. I think they came out nice!

I got the Whytner 47 installed today. I was initially going to install it in the cabinet on the right as you come in the side door, but i felt that would be better used as a closet. The Whyt now resides where the center side seat used to be... Perfect fit

Build is coming along nicely! What's the millage and what did you snag it for?
And yes, I think a UJOR should happen :)

Thanks! So the 113k mileage on the 7.3. I picked it up for a good deal given it was soo clean. It has the typical 7.3 fuel leaks in the valley of the engine which I will address but other than that its solid! Im still debating on the UJOR.. Ill know more after the new year if I decide to do it..

Haha Yea Im no pro tile man thats for sure, and I ran out of tile so its "mostly" done haha . I did not use grout given that it would most likely rattle to pieces over time. I went for a more "secure" option..... Liquid nails!

Got the backsplash finished up minus some trim... Also got both cushions for the bed/couch done and they are gonna work/look great! Interior is just about done. If i can find some nice days to paint the outside that will be next but we will see.

We did the UJOR six inch on our sloped gravel driveway. I think you should be fine with good jack stands. A good jack is also a plus. Our old 3 ton floor jack was just barely enough to lift the ambo. The kit is nice and worth the cash. Pay close attention to your rear spring hangers. What should be the simplest part was a major headache due to how our rear boxes were built. I'll give another vote for getting the kit.
