Ambulance Conversion - Info Request B4 Purchase

I know that many of you either own, built, are building or have experience with ambulance conversions. I have none.

I went to visit a friend that owns a repair shop and he was removing an engine from an ambulance. His customer bought the ambulance to use the engine on his truck. The guy only needed the engine and already sold the rest of the drivetrain. So I asked my friend what his customer was going to do with the ambulance box. After a quick phone call, we found out that the guy wants to sell it, doesn’t know how much is worth and said that he was open to a reasonable offer. This is for the box only, not the chassis or any of the drivetrain.

I was wondering if any of you, with more experience with this type of transaction can provide an idea of how much this is worth. I am interested in buying it for a camper conversion and want to make a reasonable offer, but I have no idea on where to start. I didn’t speak with the owner so I don’t have any specific information yet about the ambulance, but I was able to take some pictures and make a couple of quick videos. I will attempt to load them here. Any guidance will be sincerely appreciated.

$1k could be fair if it’s not that great inside. One popped up locally for less than that and it was rough. I thought it’d make a cool sauna if you lined it with cedar, but I couldn’t figure out how to get it into the backyard...

$500 to $1,000. The seller could be motivated to let go for a good price given the apparent convenience of this sale.

Any more than a few thousand, and I don't see any reason to buy just the shell when you can get a complete ambulance for just a few thousand more. There is a lot of value in the complete electric system.

Depending on your area, there are also a few shells for auction right now in Utah starting at $100

I shared a link for one that was for sale in our are area in the vans for sale. I can’t remember if it was 500 or 1000. I bought my rig with a strong 7.3 for about $1000 USD. I’d imagine he mostly would want scrap value... I’d think $500 would be a fair offer, snd see what he says.

keep in mind, the ‘72 350 4 bolt that’s in my 40 cost me about$235 USD and it came with a good TH350 trans. 70k miles, and the valve train shone after wiping it with a paper towel, I successfully negotiate to get things affordably.

I could have bought one for $1000cdn last summer. It has all the inverters and electrical too so I thought it was a very good deal but I did not need it. I think this is a great option if anyone wanted material are the aluminum skin alone to buy would be worth 4X that.
