Ambulance Conversion/Complete Rebuild

Hello,
I have a Ambulance Econoline E-450, 2006 that has been completely gut out. I have not removed the subfloor yet because the subfloor is a 3/4 in. of plywood and the main floor seems very thin. I’m afraid to tear or damage the main floor. Has anyone ripped out the plywood and didn’t experience any trouble. I have not continued my project because I’m hesitant to rip the subfloor out or not?
Thank you!

X2, post on the 4x4 van forum!

But I haven't seen anyone doing this yet. The floors are usually 1/8" aluminum with a layer of foam (5/8" or more) and plywood on top (5/8", 3/4"...).

I'm also considering ripping my floor to add 2" rigid foam & 1/2" plywood but not decided yet.

I think most have 1/8" thick aluminum sheet under the plywood; at least mine did. However the screws that hold down the plywood also hold down the sheet metal, so if you remove the wood you'll have to re-anchor the metal.
