AC condenser

Years ago when the forum was trying to figure out why FG AC systems performed so poorly, I discovered that the cause was the rubber flap hanging down in front of the condensor was diverting the air intended to be driven by the plastic louvers on the bottom of the condenser, up through the condenser. Since then I have simply tucked the rubber flap up behind the bumper and had functional AC. But as I was looking at that the other day, it occurred to me that perhaps the rubber flap should have been hanging on the back side of the condenser, serving as a device to hinder the flow of air under the condenser and force more air up through the louvers on the bottom of the condenser. Has anyone seen one installed this way or tried it on their truck? It's 102 degrees here today so its gotten me thinking about AC.
