Advice from one photographer to another, be careful what contests you submit too. ALWAYS read the fine print. Below is the fine print to the above contest:

"You are agreeing that we can use your submission in all manner and media of The New York Times and that we shall have the right to authorize third parties to do so."

Unfortunately this is becoming a real problem. Yes, you want to submit photos for exposure or pure enjoyment, but it's all bad news when one day you open a magazine, newspaper, or book and there is your photo, no payment, no photo credit and their is nothing you an do.

Just be careful who you submit your photos too.
