89 Pathfinder 4x4 van hybrid build

Wow, Pathfinder 4x4 vans! There's a name I haven't heard in a few decades!

Back in the 70's and early 80's that was the only way to get a 4x4 van.

Funny how the "van craze" of the 70's seems to be all but forgotten now but it was big at the time. I was too young to drive for most of it but I was fascinated by cars and trucks so I remember all the crazy customs.

It was a nice day here in Indiana today, so I took the opportunity to finish wiring the safari rack and hoisted it into place. Still have to clamp it down. I used 1/32 neoprene under the mounts. The yellow is tape holding the pieces in place. Here are some preliminary pictures.

Hi Jay,

I have emailed back and forth with you several times over the years. Yea I still remember you said you didn't care for the red. I showed you a picture of my older van a few years ago. I wish you hadn't gotten rid of your rig. It was pretty cool.
I'm making a lot of parts for these vans now. Have been for a long time.

Got the original graphics put on the other day and the upper light bar bolted on.

I remember now Jason. Good to see someone carrying on the Pathfinder name.
You do nice work, (except the red) :(.
I dealt with Gordon in Salt Lake City when I was trying to locate parts for mine.
He was getting out of it by then, and wasn't too eager to respond to inquires.
Mine is in California, up by Mammoth Mountain now. Heard last year from the guy I sold it to
back in 2007. Still has and uses it, although not as often as he'd like.
It was a great van and I do miss it from time to time.

I appreciate you throwing a hand up. I remember back when I found your site with your build on it. It was great reading material and it is still there. This van came from Las vegas with not a speck of rust so it was an excellent candidate for a conversion. And I appreciate the kind words.
