TL;DR VERSION: One new 60 liter (64 quart) Engel compressor chest refrigerator-freezer, Model MT60. Ideal for van and truck-based overland/expedition rigs, as power use is quite low. Runs on AC or DC, and includes both built in and doesn’t need any adapters; you use different plugs. This is the single compartment MT60 model, so there are two baskets but no space lost to permanent division of the space into two separate areas. Current price from Engel seems to be $1530.

MORE POTENIALLY USEFUL INFORMATION: The unit is 31.1" x 19.3" x 17.4" without the easily detachable handles. It weighs about 85 pounds. Looking on the engelcooler.com website will get you all of the other specs for the unit, including their estimate that the current draw from their special “swing motor” compressor is 40% lower than other compressor fridges and can be expected to be 1 to 2 amps per hour.

The dimensions and rectangular shape are a good thing for an overlander, since it is a good size to put under a bed, bench or cushion, or you can put the top level with a countertop and increase working space. (I did this with a similar unit on my Sprinter conversion and it’s worked very well. There’s a photo included.)

The unit is unused, but it is not boxed, being instead wrapped in heavy plastic wrap for protection. It has been plugged in once to demonstrate that it worked to a guy who said he wanted to buy it but then changed his plans. If you’d want to buy the unit, we can certainly unwrap it for your close examination and plug it in for testing. But I have every expectation that all is in order, as it’s just been sitting unused on a shelf. It was purchased for a build that never came about.

The photos below, taken when the unit was briefly unwrapped, show a couple of closeups showing small glitches in the finish. I suspect these were there when it left the factory, but they could have been picked up during shipping. Regardless, they are pretty slight.

There's an $850 price for ExPo folk, which is intended to be a good deal for a new unit. As mentioned, Engel and most dealers sell this model for the $1530, though a handful of sellers offer one or two hundred off. And the weight is enough that it has to ship LTL freight, which can add over $200.

Not surprisingly, local pickup only. I'm generally available, so send me a message and we can set up a convenient time for you to look it over.
