Well I just picked up my 2022 Silverado 2500 HD Crew Cab 6.6L gas w/ 6'10" bed a week ago. It had dual battery's, dual alternators, up fitter switches, Z71 suspension & skid plate package and HD front springs. I have 500 miles on the odometer so far and I am impressed with the ride quality for a 2500. I am going tomorrow and having my new wheels and tires installed. (Recline wheels and Cooper At 195/70x18 tires.) next week I am taking it to my buddy's paint shop to do a Black Out of all the Chrome. I did not order the black edition because it would have taken another 1-2 months.... I put a tonneau cover on it just until I find a camper or I might even order a topper. Although I was told by the topper place that it would be 9 weeks to get one. Thanks Joe!
Any how here are some pics and let me know if anyone knows or has a pop up truck camper for sale. I'm located about 30 north of Detroit and am willing to travel for the right unit!
I also have a 2005 4 Runner that I am going to use the 12v refrigerator, recovery items, and a lot of other equipment that I will not have to buy again!
Also any and all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

I test drove a 2500 before I bought my 1500, and I agree...they ride really nice for a 3/4 ton. How do you find the fuel mileage?

Congrats on the new truck. Looking forward to seeing your build. Not to many GM HD's being built here so it'll be nice to see one being built up.

How do you like the 6.6 gas so far? What kind of fuel mileage are you seeing?

The gas 6.6L is good so far. It seem to be quite responsive. (On par with my old 2.7L Twin turbo up to about 60mph. After that the turbo just pulled all the way to redline)
Well Fuel mileage... That's funny its a 3/4 ton so the manufactures do not have to show an MPG rating... The best so far on the highway with just me in it was 17mpg city 12mpg. It only has 600 miles on it now so the mpg should get a bit better. I hope!
I got the new wheels and tires mounted yesterday and I love the look now and ride is awesome too!
I am still waiting to make a decision on a topper or a pop up truck camper. I seem that all the good pop up's are sold....
I contacted Alu-Cab dealer about their new Alu-Cabin for full size trucks and they are not sure if they will make one for the Silverado. The dealer told me to check back in December lol Thanks Joe!!

Well I decided to buy a topper for my 2500HD. I Thought about it for a long time and a popup truck camper would not work out for me. I also have a 6x10 enclosed trailer that I will bring along with my 4 wheeler and what ever wont fit in my Truck & Topper. Speaking of time it is going to take 9-12 weeks to get the Leer topper I ordered. Why is this country so jack up and nobody wants to work? I am totally disappointed with the whole situation. I was planning to head South then West some time in November but now who knows when I can leave. I might just work the winter and leave in the spring. THANKS JOE!

well....there is an epidemic of people not wanting to work (yet still geting 'paid') here in the states, its well documented, and someone being upset/pissed about it is warrented, especially in their own thread.

I just can't wrap my head around why the HD chevy designers used Jake Tucker's face as the guide (family guy character)

I like it. Sharp looking truck.

People seem to discount the GM's with independent front suspension because its not hard core enough, yet we spend 99% of the time on dirt roads and pavement and IFS rides SOOOOOO much nicer.

Yup. And yet tons of people are using IFS vehicles to explore..... F150's, Ram Rebels, Tundras and Tacomas, etc, etc....

People say those are the best.....Yet once we bump up to 3/4 ton there seems to be so much hate for IFS.

I clearly have IFS and have been a fan of it so far. Just makes me chuckle sometimes with these "die hard off-road expedition" builds that see basic dirt road camping.
