Hmm...I've seen 235's on a Xj, never a 215. Let me go search.....

I have these on my XJ - 215 85 R15 - they are AWESOME. Until I get caught on my belly being a smaller jeep, I'm able to keep up on guys on 34x9.5 Narrow SS swampers.

They ride great on the highway for what they are - mine are 10 ply, load range E truck tires. No vibes, shakes, etc. A bit loud but that's to be expected out of such an aggressive mud tire.

I recommend them to anyone. When I buy an XJ in the spring for daily driving, it's getting a set of the ATG tires in 235-75r15.

My tire size 215-85r16 is a truck tire and I couldn't find anything agressive for around $100 a tire except the treadwrights. Saved about $400 compared to a set of Dura Tracs!

Hmm I think it looks ok. I think it'd look better if he had a little more backspacing to put them out a inch or so farther, more flush with the fenders! What is the official size on these? 8" wide by 31 tall? If these come out to around 31 tall I'd love to run em on my Xj as well vs my current 31x10.5's.
I see most only saying they are roughly 1" narrower than 30x9.5's about about an inch taller..so 31x8.5?

Great expo tire. They are load range e, but not too heavy still.

I ran 215's on my old XJ for several years. Goodyear MT's actually. The cool old directional ones... It was a 2.5L '86, with no power steering, and they worked awesome!! I put an extra spacer on the front and an extra leaf in the back for about 1" lift overall The tall/skinny tires worked very well with the power-lacking 2.5, even in sand! I could climb dunes just about as well as my friends in their 33" tired YJ's with 4.0L's! Of course the XJ being lighter helped, but the tall/skinny tires worked amazingly well in the soft!

I ran the same tires on my TJ last winter, and they did awesome in the snow, even breaking open deep snow this spring. I'm heading away from my 285's and switching to 235/85's next spring. I really like the tall/skinny!
I'll see if I can find some pics of the XJ... They're on my old laptop, but here's a few of those tires on my TJ.

Thought I’d revive this thread to see some more pics of 215/85R16s. Definitely an underrated tire size

215/85r16's are semi-popular on stock Libertys. Google it and you will find info and pictures. I loved the 30x9.50 size on my stock XJ's.
