Just recently upgraded my 2012 F150 to a 2020 2500HD with the Duramax. I love it. It’s primary purpose is pulling our TT and my tractor.

The F150 was easy. Bilstein 6100 front and 5160 rear and good tires.

I’m trying to plan what I want to do with the Sierra. Not as many suspension options. Still needs to tow well. But would be nice to go down some wider trails from our camper home base.

What do you recommend as a good, functional suspension, not a mall crawler lift?

That's a great tow vehicle...but be VERY careful of those side steps/running boards. Dirt roads I drive around here would have those destroyed in no time.

Trade it in for a F-250! Lol, I kid I kid. I don't know much about the GM lifts and what not, maybe some of the Chevy guru's will chime in. Congrats on the truck and be sure to ceramic coat that black paint before too long.

Nice truck! Cognito Motorsports has some 2-3" level/lift options, with Fox or King shocks and UCAs, and should improve the ride while keep the towing handling.

I am waiting on my 2022 2500 HD Silverado. These have a Torsion bar ft suspension and can be lifted a bit if you have the know how. However if you lift it too much then you will need different UCA to fix the geometry. Do a search there are a few companys out there that will offer front kits for our trucks!

You can get clearance for slightly-larger tires by cranking the torsion-bar keys and trimming the front fender and bumper, as long as you are not regularly maxing-out the rear leafs. If you want to step up from that, I highly recommend Don Thuren's tune on a set of King 2.5 reservoir shocks and changing the upper control arms for Cognito or Kryptonite. That will give you a very nice ride without sacrificing towing capacity. I also like the Kryptonite tie rods. If you run the factory tie-rods, carry a spare and a single-jack sledge as you can often hammer a bent rod straight enough to keep running it, as long as it hasn't cracked. That's, truly, the weakest link in the GM truck design, and isn't a big deal once you learn about its weaknesses and are prepared to deal with it in a pinch.

Glad to see a GM HD build. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Do you have the fancy towing cameras that are optional on those trucks? They would come in so handy for towing.
