I've had the truck over a year now, just picked up our Ovrlnd Camper about 3 weeks ago. Truck is stock besides the console vault safe, 589 skid steps and the camper. Still waiting on the rest of the solar components to come it to get it fully installed which should finish arriving next week. We drove out and picked up the camper and camped back on the way home. Hoping to get out again soon on a weekend, but do have a Yellowstone trip planned for next month.

How do you like the skid steps?

I like them so far, not the same as a true step slider, but work well enough for me. I will end up going OME rear leaf springs, and a level on the front, so between that and 32" tires that I plan I may feel differently at that point. Currently they work great at stock height.

I have got the solar panel installed, used corrugated plastic under it to keep the heat of the roof from impacting it. At least I read that would help, so 3m vhb taped plastic to the solar panel, then 3m taped it to the roof, then sealed the edges with eternabond tape. Have the battery placed in the truck. Rest of supplies will show monday and I can start wiring it all up.

Over the weekend I got the rest of the solar install done. Had to drill into the camper to add an additional 8020 rail. @crolison gave me the details on his control panel for the electronics and I mimicked that. Have upper and lower lights, 2 12v power ports and power to the vent fan.

Nice, clean looking panel set up! Do you charge from the alternator at all? And how are you grounded? Just picking up ideas for my upcoming OVERLND build, hopefully in Dec.

It charges off of just solar panels, I'm going to ground to the neg bus bar until I can find a good spot to ground otherwise.

Been a long while since I've posted an update. Added insulation inside, old man emu heavy-duty springs, bug net. And rear seat delete for more storage and a refrigerator.

Really like what you have done. I would suggest looking into getting a bed rug. Chevy Accessories website is having staggered 10%, 15% 20%(over $500) off right now.

The bed rug is definitely something we are planning to get, appreciate the heads up on the discounts right now.

Bedrug is something you definitely wont regret! Really helps keep the dust down (along with really good tailgate sealing and hunting down all the bed openings and sealing those). We did about 150miles of nasty dusty roads in Bears Ears in May and got basically no obvious dust incursion. Jay seals his campers well! We’re also using a positive pressure vent which really helps too along with about about 20 feet of
