That time lapse is dope!
Thanks!! I should have stayed at that spot a bit longer. It was so nice.

Honest question ... How do you guys afford these things? I presume they're being financed but how?

In 2012 I sold all but a couple boxes of personal belongings in TN and moved to San Francisco with $0 (negative actually - student loans). Got an engineering job and moved into a 100-sq ft single room occupancy hotel (SRO) near Chinatown. I lived there for 6 years in order to invest the majority of my salary. Here I am moving stuff out of that apartment in 2018. I got a parking ticket that night! Street sweeping.

At that price range u definitely not going to finance, beeing top 1% is a good start.
The problem with financing an XV is that they're custom built by small companies that aren't neatly integrated into the lending system. I bet it's possible to get a loan but it might need to be collateralized partially by some other asset.

Does it have Detroit Lockers in the rear diffs?

My understanding is they're LSD but I don't know the make. I'll get confirmation on that.

i saved and invested for 15 years, resisted the urge to move into bigger better housing, stayed put in a old pos house and just paid it off. lots of "extra money" after that. kept saving and looking for a used model like this one. they are out there and at great savings from new.
plan a budget, save your money, dont buy stuff, keep looking for great deals like this one.
op, great looking rig, we sure love traveling in ours as well.

Update for November 9th, 2020: I drove the truck to Bend, OR to a well-known FMTV specialist shop for maintenance. This work is expected to be completed at some point in January.
  • New windshield & gasket seal
  • New Caterpillar turbo
  • New CTIS ECU unit
  • Air compressor rebuild + new governor and hoses
  • New air dryer cartridge
  • Toe alignment
  • New front brake air lines
  • Fix cab temperature control issue

If one were to buy it today when would it be freed up from the work on Oregon? Amazing rig and while I do not like to make observations about vehicle on here. This is a true 6x6 Expedition vehicle unlike the other one on the forum for sale , which while a true 6x6 LMTV base-the habitat is clearly a standard RV unit. GXV build true 4 season expedition habitats. Definitely interested in this work of art.

All, the truck is still for sale. Hasn’t been my top priority though :). It’s still in Bend at Grigsby’s shop. Can be shown if needed.

3months to complete this work, and it's still not complete? Parts delays?

It wasn't first in line at drop-off so the deal was it would be worked in between existing contracts. There's also an unexpected health issue in the mix, which I won't go into on a public forum. Also another GXV there before mine, which I believe is about to be completed and set free, so that will help. I chose the shop based on likelihood of top-quality work rather than timing. But! We did assume it would be finished by now.

New Cat turbo replacement is underway. The remaining must-have in my book is the windshield replacement, which is relatively straightforward. The rest are small issues or things I wanted to try. For example I never used CTIS but why not get it working, given the opportunity.
