Can you speak to the mechanical condition a bit or list any maintenance that has been done. Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one nervous about 140,000+ miles on an expedition platform where the intent is to be away from it all... ??.

I recently purchased this truck with big plans in mind so I can’t speak to all of the maintenance, however I will attach what I have.The truck has the 8.1L paired with an Alison transmission. These are pretty bulletproof engines with the capability of going 500,000+ miles. This truck is mainly highway miles as well. The gas engine is cheaper to work on if needed as well. It’s not uncommon to see used expedition vehicles with 200+ miles on them. They are intended to travel. Keep in mind it is a 2006, 14 years old and is in amazing shape for the year.

Not the OP, but I have a 2009 C4500 with the 8.1 Vortec and Allison 1000. They are basically just a 'fluid change' maintenance schedule. Both are quite bullet-proof. The 8.1 Vortec can benefit performance/MPG wise from a sparkplug/wire change if the existing parts are original equipment. As this combination was in the 'smaller' Chevy 3500s, all the parts, fluids, etc are easy to get. It is always a good idea to do a full fluid change when you get a used vehicle unless the prior owner had detailed records. A good starting point. Fun-fact on the Kodiaks. They have an aux electric 'hydraulic pump', so if your engine dies, you still have power steering and power brakes. IMO don't pump those brakes, we 'need' more Kodiaks on the Portal
