Located in Atlanta, GA. Asking $5500. I am taking new pictures later today or tomorrow including of the interior.

I purchased this 2004 Mitsubishi Montero Limited in March 2019, the best example I could find at the time after months of search, with 136k miles. It was a one owner San Jose, California car until the original owner traded it in at a used car dealer, also in San Jose. I purchased the car from the used car dealer. I did not have any history on the car but it was clear it was taken care of and was used only for suburban family duty. The car was originally listed for $4,600 but I paid $4,100.

I purchased the car specifically to do a long road trip for my sabbatical from work. EXTENSIVE maintenance has been done in preparation for my trip from March 2019 – June 2019 as documented on linked spreadsheet, spending $2,800 on parts alone. This includes timing belt, new brakes all around, etc. I put in at least 80 hours of labor myself and took some pictures along the way. In June 2019 I started my 15k mile road trip through western US/Canada/Mexico which ended in December 2019. The car has only been driven occasionally since then. I would be comfortable getting in right now and driving across the country no problem.

Here are some more data points:

• 2004 Mitsubishi Montero Limited, loaded with all options
• Currently 154k miles, runs and drives excellent.
• Black exterior and black leather interior
• VIN JA4MW51S94J010517 (no accidents)
• Clean California title in hand and valid California registration through September 2019
• Zero rust and zero leaks.
• Runs great, cold AC, heated seats work, etc.
• Passed California emissions test in 2019 without any problems
• Exterior: 8 out 10 from 30ft away, 6 out of 10 from close up due to scratches, one 5 inch dent on driver’s door, and touched up paint on front/rear bumper. Paint condition Front bumper: 5 out of 10. Rear bumper: 6 out of 10. The entire rest of the car: 8 out of 10. There is no rust on the body at all. Polishing/paint correction would go along way.
• Interior: 8/10. Black leather seats a bit worn. Dash in good shape. Carpet in good shape. Second and third row seats in good shape.
• Frame and engine bay are very clean and rust free, and mechanically great.

Flaws:
• Fuel gauge is crazy which is a common problem of the instrument gauge cluster. I believe can be fixed with some soldering of the circuit board. The " X miles left until empty" computer works perfect, and the low gas light does turn on if you are low on fuel, so it is not an urgent issue.
• Rear speakers blown, or at least one of them, only noticeable if you turn it up loud and the music has bass.
• Power sunroof does not open, I never looked into what exactly is wrong
• Gold plasti-dip on the wheels has absorbed dirt over time, could be redone
• Exterior is ok but could be improved with paintless dent removal and polishing/paint correction
• 3 jacking points in perfect shape, 1 (driver side rear) is a little more beat up (mildly smashed in, but it’s solid / no rust and you can jack the car from it fine).

Maintenance spreadsheet + more pictures:
Very nice, lots of work done that most of us would expect to have to do after purchase. Should make a good truck for the next owner. I've shared it with two of my contacts, and I've have had to slap my own hand not to consider it myself! (Jury still out on that one).

Curious why you are cutting it loose? What's next for you vehicle-wise, and are you just on location in Atlanta temporarily? (Cali registration).

Good luck with the sale.

Hey there, thanks for the nice note. I've lived in California since 2014, but am now moving to Brazil. My parents live in Atlanta so I am here temporarily. If I could import it into Brazil I would have driven it there (seriously) but it cannot be imported there. One of the contenders for my next vehicle once I'm in Brazil I'm looking at is the 2010-ish Mitsubishi Pajero TR4 or a newer Suzuki Jimny but we will see! Nice to finally have 4-cylinder 4X4 options.

As for my Montero it is pending sale.

Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
Too bad your still not in Cali., my kid is on the hunt for a rig...and she's leaning towards a Montero.

This is a sharp unit. You have done pretty much every preventative maintenance item one should do to a Montero. The only parts I have ever had fail outside your list are those position switches on top of the transfercase. At 154K, they may have already been replaced.
