I don’t need (too much) help or advice at this (exact) moment, though any is welcomed! And I probably need more than I think, but... More just posting as an in process project while I drink my coffee before starting today. Have lurked on here off and on for a while, and finally managed to find an older Hawk with the intention of redoing it. It doesn’t fit past the gate flares on the truck, which posed a little bit of a problem getting it home but ultimately shouldn’t be too bad to deal with(I THINK. Hoping to just down the flare at the rear of the camper by an inch on each side).
Yesterday was the first day doing tear out, and it looks like it’ll be slightly more of a project than I had hoped. The weather seal around the door was pretty wasted, which lead to the door leaking the bottom(the door is also full of water, sounds like a water bottle when shaken). Looks like the water was wicked up along the rear walls but the insulation, and the lower half of the walls behind the cabinet/benches is completely rotten-soaking wet insulation, and a wall that crumbles like paper. On the plus side, the floor seems solid, so I guess I’m lucky the water wicked up. Will find out more today as I continue the tear down.
I’ve done some forum searches and found some good info for the future, but happy for any direction or anything else anyone wants to post. This is my first time working on a camper- I’ve done one very basic van build out, and one intermediate van build out over the last decade, but both of those were more fixtures and electrical based than strctural)
