Hey everyone,

Wanted to share my 1st gen tundra bed rack build. All this is stuff I had laying around the garage. Sort of like cooking by cleaning out the fridge.

Goal was to use our skybox, and also have space for my Mad River Guide solo canoe. Also mount my traction boards and farm jack.

Build:

-i used the stake bed mounts with a 1x1.5 with rivnut mounted in the bed.
-plate steel square welded to stake bed post
-upright at 25° corresponding angles to match the lines of the truck.
-welded upright to plate steel
-had some metal industrial shelf steel metal that I made the top mount (hence the slots and cutouts.
-welded it all up just waiting on paint or bed liner

Let me know what you think and what do you think of the truck bed box in there, might be fun trying to figure out how to mount as it's aluminum and the bed rack is steel.

Thanks for looking.

Update on the build, here is where it sits now. Shored up with some bracing, paint, added mounts for traction pads and farm jack.

Last thing to do is figure out how to mount my canoe once the sky box is up there.

Great job with the DIY project. I really liked the bed box from the first picture. Why did you remove it?

I have been with the idea of a DIY beck reack for my rig, not sure about the compatibility with stuff on it. Do you still have the rack on your Tundra? Did you have any Pro - Cons?
