One of you needs to buy my low SD rack.

Let me know when you make the road trip from Atlanta to Portland, and I'll gladly buy it!

The other truck is an event truck with roof rails, so the high SD rack is original.

You got any hints on how to bypass the alarm system. I bought a 96 with no key fob . Removed the battery to test and charge it then the alarm started going off. It or something else immobilzed the engine. Have replaced ECU, have attempted to wire past the immobilizer and nothing.... no start..... its a big piece of shiatz brick sitting in my drive now. If no solution comes available by this summer it will go to the junk yard. Tried to hire a professional to work on it. had it towed there..... they sent it back. No kidding. They refused to even attempt to find a solution.

I'd spend some time over on Discoweb looking at solutions; just a cursory search over there of 'bypass alarm' got a fair amount of results -parsing down to just D1's you get to threads like these: https://discoweb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=86423&highlight=bypass+alarm

Discoweb is not like Expo in terms of manners, but the search function will give you a couple decades worth of knowledge on these trucks.

Snow Recovery

Have to share a bit of unexpected fun from yesterday. Took the family up to Mt. Hood to play in the snow. It was fairly uneventful until the drive home. Traffic was very slow due to the snow/ice and people chaining up along the side of the road. There was a guy sitting on the guardrail, who I assumed was hitchhiking, that saw me and jumped up and down and ran up to us. His sign said: "Stuck in snow, need 4x4, will pay $20." He was in a Nissan 4x4, right-hand drive van and had taken his dog on a side road to run around a bit. As he turned around he got in a bit too deep and lost traction. The tow company told him "not until tomorrow" so he was desperate for a tug. He notice my yellow rig and figured if anyone could help I could. As you could see the van from the road, I knew it wasn't too difficult, so I pulled off the road (onto a beautiful snowy drive) and got situated to pull him out. Fortunately, I had all my recovery gear and my shovel (go prepared!) so it was a pretty easy task. Nonetheless, it made for a great afternoon, and I had a smile on my face for the next 30 miles.

My wife took a few pics, enjoy.

After the last pic was taken, I had to adjust my angle, as he was about to hit the tree, I probably should have used a snatch block and the tree between us to improve the pull angle, but he didn't need to go far. And no, I didn't take his $20. :)

It felt good to help, and to use my toys... I mean, tools!

It's been a while since I've updated my progress on the XD. Put a lot of work in to it this summer, got it ready for the PDX ABFM and had a blast running the "Adventure Course". Thought I'd share a few pics and maybe give some more updates soon...
