G'day All,

Been wall-flying these forums for a bit trying to work out/learn as much as I can. Figured it's time to share my current project and reach out for some feedback on where I'm currently stuck! Here's how it started;

After a bunch of stripping, hacking, grinding, here's where I'm currently at;

- 19mm thermolite flooring installation
- Slight frame modification for 3 x new windows
- Blanking off existing window
- Fabrication & installation of LHS side door (into shower)...turns out to register a vehicle as a motorhome in Aus it must have a LHS door..
- New 40mm XPS insulation

And now for where I'm stuck/prompt for my first post here;

I'm chasing a solution to stop/minimise the thermal bridging between the steel members and best product for internal cladding (external cladding is aluminum adhered with rivets and some sort of silicone), with the least possible mm's added. Previously the insulation was a 40mm fibreglass/foam composite material, 1.6mm marine-ply and carpet...I never tested this, so I don't know how effective it was in terms of R-value (I'm guessing not very...)

My current thoughts were to use double side foam tape on all steel members, followed by marine ply (1.6mm) and laminex or similar. Any suggestions / ideas / products (located in Aus) would be hugely appreciated!

Cheers,

James

Though not in Australia, shipping rolls of tape might work and have some applicability for you:
I haven't used this product but have assessed aerogel performance in arctic conditions, it is impressive. This company or another like it might have a product that works for you.

Thanks mate, I've found some stuff made by Rova on your recommendation - this definitely looks like the best option in terms of minimal thickness / effective bridge / cost. The Rocketape mentioned above also looked awesome... but would have cost about 4k in tape alone. This will be approx. $300 - $600 in material depending on what level of adhesive backing I opt for (Rova Flex vs Rova Flex Plus)..as far as I can tell Rova Flex can be combined with spray glue for extra adhesion.

To those reading with a similar problem, I also looked into ceramic coating paint (Lizard Skin) and Rova Shield paint - however, I came to the conclusion that I don't want to deal with the hassle of all the prep' for the painting process now the insulation is in, along with not knowing if this will deteriorate between the wall with vibration, etc. down the track.
