1990 Liteace Campmate

I just made a bit of a gamble and bought a 1990 Liteace Campmate. Mostly in good shape but needs new interior and some basic maintenance. I am new to RV's and JDM cars also. Looking forward to restoring this classic. In addition to travel, this is to be my winter base of operations on frequent days at the ski hill. That is going to require a bit of work insulating the underside, and anywhere else I can.

I have one part I cannot locate that is required to safely operate this RV. If anyone knows where I can get a battery compartment cover (part#58441-95716) it would really help. They are out of production so a used one is my only hope. I have scoured the inter-web and have a few emails out to used parts people in multiple countries. Worst case I will have to get something fabricated.

Right front turn signal lens(81510-95709) is also very hard to find. But I can put colored tape over it. That cover missing lets fumes directly in the cabin from under the RV. Not safe.

Anyway glad to find you guys. I am hoping to do a trip up west coast with this next summer. By then hope to have restoration done. Any suggestions or advice on anything would be welcome.

it might be helpful to post a picture of where the cover mounts. lots of creative folks here and someone might be able to offer an alternative to the original part. even if you eventually find one, it might offer a stopgap solution and get you on the road. good luck

Thanks very much Chux and Charles. Tried to attache pics from my phone but forum says files are too large. I'm not clear on how to reduce the file size so forum will accept it.

I have tried every on line parts source including Parts-souq, Megazip, JP-carparts, Nengun, Amayama, Impex as well as some Australian and New Zealand sites. Replacement Parts just are not out readily there for this ride. Appears I made an unwise decision in buying this RV. Maybe someone already has a list of part reference number that indicates all vehicles that used common parts like brake, suspension, and engine components. I heard they used the motor in a corolla too.

Unless I can locate someone with a junk yard of Liteace trucks, this experiment with the world of JDM cars may end sooner than I thought. May as well have of bought an Edsel! :ROFLMAO:
No one to blame but me though, should have thoroughly researched parts availability before I bought.:poop:

out of the question to have a local fabricator make one? don't discount companies that make custom restaurant sinks & backspashes (just bring $$$).

yup custom fabrication should be an option for me too I think. Although I will go around the world on the web for awhile checking still. I'd like to have oem so it fits right and seals the cabin from road below properly. I mean a good metal worker may be able to do it but yeah $$$

Made a cover plate out of two layers of sheet metal and door weatherstrip. Installed new flooring in rear.
Moving on to servicing brakes next.
Camper has sink and shower with working water pump. A mid cabin heater and A/C unit under counter. It pumps cold A/C and good heat too. Works great when motor is on. Need to get a storage battery to see how it works on battery. All lights work.
This is going to be a lot of cleaning and polishing. Once brakes are done it will be ready to road trip.

Anyone have a secret cleaner for headliner fabric stains?

It is located right behind drivers seat on right side of truck. I need a junkyard miracle of some other Liteace CM65 model to turn up. Fabricator wants too much. I have made my own out of sheet metal for now.

It’s hard to get perspective of size, but that looks kinda similar to the engine cover on the old US Toyota vans.

It is a little wider than the van one I think, at the bottom. this is about a foot across.

Things are coming together...Found a nice queen size folding couch/bed. Brake inspection went well they checked out good. New front exhaust pipe has come in from Japan. That will be a great repair when done. I do not like noisy exhaust leaks.
Spent 2 days with wax on wax off. She shined up really well. Headlights polished out great. A little Coca-Cola and steel wool made the chrome rims look like new.
Previous owner was a smoker and upholstery is not releasing the nicotine. The panels and headliner is as good as they get without replacing now.

I cannot get over how much room this thing has. Slide out is the way to go in an RV!
