Just a heads up, I received an email from solar blvd, stating they had 120 W panels in stock again. Said $205. I feel like I paid less than that though.

Has anyone replaced the wire on their Renogy 100W suitcase (Viewstar VS1024N controller) with larger gauge wire? If so, what did you determine was the largest gauge that will fit securely in the controller's battery terminals? I'm planning to increase the length of wire between the charge controller and the battery to 30FT. It looks like the kit comes with 15FT of 12AWG.

I was talking with a guy here at work just a bit ago about all of my solar stuff I have for camping, and I said the Renogy 100 watt kit like I have would be perfect for his 24' trailer when unhooked from his Dodge 4x4 truck to keep his deep cycle topped off.
Gave him the link, and showed him this video too, I think he is going to pick one up.

Old thread but maybe Corey or other old timers can chime in.

I still have a new Solar Blvd 120W panel and now want to use it for my Socal Teardrop vice the Renogy 100W panels Socal uses. I have the Group 31 AGM battery. I am missing anything?

CatusJK,

I am not sure I am following your question...

Are you asking is a 120w panel will work over the 100w panel?

If so, yes, it should not matter, assuming the 120w panel also has a solar controller to prevent your batteries from overcharging.

Actually, I am trying to decide whether to sell my 120W (New) and get the Renogy 100W. Probably splitting hairs. I do like the case on the Renogy!

If you already have the 120w, I would keep it. I do own the Renogy 100w Suitcase, and do like it. But probably not worth the headache to essentially downgrade your solar capabilities.

I am somewhat permanently installing my 180 watt Grape panel on my roof of my teardrop and carrying my Renolgy suitcase to setup in the sun if needed. We have been monitoring our usage for several months now to see what power we really need. During the Summer months, no problem but we will see during the Fall and Winter when the sun is out less.

I am not familiar with that 120 one, but all I know is I was very happy with the results of my Renogy 100 watt suitcase one keeping the new Yellowtop going great.
It was close to 90 degrees up at Rainier where we went for four days, and the National Luna Weekender 50 Twin was running quite a bit, and the combo of the Renogy and Yellowtop kept it happy.

Just a charge controller and wire.

This portable 90w solar panel is on clearance at my local Costco for $149.97 CDN (which is about $120 USD). Is this a good deal, worth picking up?
