SOLD - 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ

This Cherokee XJ is in really nice shape with 203,550 miles and no rust. All service is up to date with newer brakes and the tires have lots of life left. Just had an oil & filter change and the tires rotated on 4/12. I have all service records since I have owned this jeep. The previous...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

I just swapped out some alloy rims in favor of steel sawblades that I picked up on CL. I had them painted and mounted 31 X 10.5 tires. Also ran power to the rear cargo area and added a fridge for camping. Old rims and tires New rims and tires Fridge project

Ready for some camping Just finished up running power from my battery to power the fridge. It's gonna be nice not dealing with soggy food from melted ice! :wings:

    98 XJ New Adventurer Build

I'm looking at the same rock sliders for my XJ. I saw them on MCOBRAY's rig and knew that's what I wanted. I'm in Dayton...have you found a powder coating solution near you or are you going to do all of the painting yourself? I'm enjoying your build!

My First Jeep - 1998 XJ

Yes, a RTT would mount up just fine. FrontRunner makes brackets to mount tents to their racks and they even offer a tent as shown on their website. http://www.frontrunner.co.za/tents-awnings.html

The bumper looks awesome! I really like how tight it fits against the rear of your XJ. Looking forward to hearing how you deal with the rear wiper and how it's performing after a couple of weeks. Great work!

My First Jeep - 1998 XJ

Making Some Changes I've decided to remove the factory roof tracks and cross bars and replace with something more useful. I really wanted something that would allow me to carry a couple of bikes and some camping gear. Removing the cross bars was easy. I wanted to remove the tracks but was not...

My First Jeep - 1998 XJ

This weekend I picked up a set of steel wheels and I'm planning to swap out the rims that came on the XJ when I bought it. I really enjoyed MCOBRAY's '99 build and got some great ideas. I especially liked the "stockish" sawblades that he added. Found this set on CL and brought them home for $75...

Glad you got her back! Sometimes love requires much patience and sacrifice. I've been following your story and am especially interested in seeing the new rear bumper installed. Keep up the great work!

My First Jeep - 1998 XJ

Agreed! Not planning on much except some rock rails (more as a step to get in and out than for boulder protection), rear bumper with a receiver hitch and maybe a beefier front bumper. The truck already has a 3" lift so that seems enough for me. I plan on keeping my eye out for some OEM rims to...

My First Jeep - 1998 XJ

It's fun to drive in the snow! I got a surprise the other day though... the CEL came on after sitting in my garage for a couple of days. I had the code read and it showed "89". I did a search and saw the "89" question quite a few times in several forums and various other places on the Internet...
