Dmski's 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 “Don’t call it a Jeep build” Build

In researching tires, Jeep WK2's have a few options. Stock suspension you can theoretically fit a 275/65/18 tire with minor rubbing depending on the aggressiveness of the tire. 265/65R18, 265/60/18 all fit easily, and 255/70/18 also work for a full 32" tire. At the 255/70/18 you can fit the...

Dmski's 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 “Don’t call it a Jeep build” Build

I originally had to fix a ticking exhaust manifold which was not exactly my idea of a good time. Otherwise, the truck has been rock solid reliability wise. I've just done the typical 90k service work which included the following: 16 plugs using Champion 446 (basic cheap copper, but should be...

Dmski's 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 “Don’t call it a Jeep build” Build

Agreed! Coming from more spartan vehicles I'm a bit apprehensive about electronics issues leaving me stranded in the backcountry but I'll do what I can to build up a spares bin and ensure everything is up to snuff, have coms, have buddies, etc.

Dmski's 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 “Don’t call it a Jeep build” Build

Well, I have a problem and can’t leave well enough alone on literally any vehicle I own, including my wife’s Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Upon asking her if she'd allow me to build it up I got the response of “hell no you can’t make my truck a rock crawler!” Ok, fine. Happy wife happy life so...

    Halley - '17 WK2 Trailhawk Overland Build

How many miles are on the WK2 these days? I've been reading through your build thread and it's giving me ideas. I sold my Titan Swapped Xterra and now am left with my wifes Overland which has gotten me thinking about some fun things to do to it to make it less of a wheeling rig and more of a...

    fake patrol QX56 build

This truck is just absolutely sick. Nice work and build! Always have had a soft spot for these trucks.

    2021 Titan XD Pro-4X w/ Ovrlnd Camper

Great looking truck! I’m a huge fan of this platform and would switch to this in the future. Do you plan to do any bumpers/winch?

    Allof75's 02 R50 Pathfinder Build- Still Alive!

I’m curious, in 2022 would you recommend one of these r50 pathfinders? I’ve loved the style and they can be picked up cheap with maybe 100k miles. It’s an intriguing idea to me but since I already have an Xterra with vq40 I wonder if it would feel too small, old and underpowered.

Best full-size 4 season composite trailer?

I'd say any of the fiberglass trailers are a good platform to start from. Casita, Scamp, Bigfoot, Escape and Oliver to name a few. These seem to be well built and will certainly hold value and last longer compared with your run of the mill RV trailers. Less leak points, usually warmer/insulated...

    Skinny's Frontier Build - Blanche

LOVE that you went with the Australia style milweld snorkel. Fantastic and glad to see one (probably the only one) in the US. Killer looking truck.

    DMSKI's 2006 Xterra

So far so good, I guess time will tell but it's a better design all around for reducing/eliminating squeaks. Good customer service too and nice to see another manufacturer support the nissan crowd.

    DMSKI's 2006 Xterra

Another update, I’ve finally bit the bullet after my bushings wore out in the leaf springs and simply bought some new leafs. I went with Alldogs Offroad Broverland leafs because they have the only eyelet setup with bushings that aren’t polyurethane and looked stout with the right weight and...

    Monstar's 2018 Armada build

Thing looks beastly. Love these rigs. How was fuel mileage on your trip? And have you towed with it yet? I'm sure it's a great tow vehicle but curious on gas mileage while towing.

Titan swap too much for just overlanding?

I think for you a good set of lighter duty springs (maybe you don't have a bumper?) or a set of coilovers would be the ticket. Simple swap in swap out and you've already got the SPC arms which help with droop/travel to clear the coil bucket. The Titan swap (while awesome) is significantly more...

Fantastic work! Loving these builds and I swear I'll own one in the future.

    DMSKI's 2006 Xterra

It might be worth a shot, but I haven't found a fool proof way to fully silence them. It's a shame because I really do like how they ride, but it sounds like I'm driving a sherman tank down the road sometimes.

    DMSKI's 2006 Xterra

I agree, I think I haven't driven far enough to get this transmission up to temperature and haven't pulled any major hills yet. I think transmission fluid is supposed to be at optimal temps around 175 so I'm going to try and go for a longer drive soon enough to get a better idea of what temp...

    DMSKI's 2006 Xterra

Thanks for the comment. The extra cooler will help but if you are bypassed I’d still recommend a temp gauge, either analog or OBD. I’m using a Bully Dog Tuner to monitor trans and coolant temps. Dead easy to install. Also I should have clarified, these are transmission temperatures. Coolant is...

    DMSKI's 2006 Xterra

I’ve been running my truck with a bypassed transmission cooler out of fear of the dreaded SMOD since day one with an extra B&M cooler, aux fan and temp gauge. This setup has worked well but with the truck aging and me not wanting to worry about family and friends driving the truck and forgetting...
