    Simple RTT mattress solution

We've been using the Exped 10 Duo for about three years. Worth the money.

exped duo mattress and RTT ?

Been using the Exped Megamat Duo 10 mattress in our ARB Simpson III for about two years. No problem and much more comfortable than the stock mattress. We just deflate it slightly before packing the tent.

Red River Gorge Area of the Danial Boone National Forrest.

The Red River Gorge is a spectacular area. We've been climbing there since 1991. Love the pic of the Nada tunnel. Heck, love all the pics!

    Ditch the bags for blankets?

We tend to use blankets in summer conditions, but later in the season when temps get below freezing we prefer high quality sleeping bags. Close fitting sleeping bags are more effective at trapping heat and they tend to minimize cold drafts when you're shifting around. That's been our experience.

    Apple Watch and its competitors

+1 again. And we use apple products. Been using them for over 20 years. This watch is laughable. "Johnny has lost the plot."

    ARB Tent ladder question. Lock?

Just don't drill too large a hole and you should be fine. We added three sets of holes (adequately spaced) to our ladder to allow for different terrain. Almost five years and no problem.

    ARB Tent ladder question. Lock?

^ This. You have to drill some extra holes if your ladder in not fully extended. We've done the same thing because we've needed to add a short ladder extension.

    ARB shout out

I bought an ARB Simpson III RTT and had to cut the cover at the end of a trip when it got caught in the zipper. Called them to buy a new cover and not only did they send me a new cover for free, but they also sent the new pole assembly they were now using in the tents. Great company and great...

Perfect! That's what I wanted to hear! Appreciate the feedback.

Zodi Hot Tap or Hot Tap HP

Hey folks, Trying to decide between the Zodi Hot Tap or Hot Tap HP. Just two of us and we will be using it during the early spring, summer and fall. I realize that the HP heats up water to a higher temperature more quickly, but could I not just run the already heated water through the water...

    Tents, Trailers and Dogs

We travel with two dogs (Rotties) and have not had any serious issues in mild sub-freezing weather. The dogs sleep in the vehicle in their crates and we sleep up above in the RTT. Mind you, our breed of dogs tend to be less affected by cold conditions. We use a crate pad that is made with...

    The best adventure travel boots.

Good list Christophe. I've been involved in the outdoor industry for over 20 years - your "fewest number of blowouts" list is spot on. You are also correct about the Patagonia and Merrell relationship.

    bain buys canada goose

Hey Jason, They were in print with a few national magazines so I don't have links. Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that they build their stuff in Canada and my friend went to school with the owner. They make OK stuff but it does not compare favorably to the more conventional outdoor...

    bain buys canada goose

Hate to say this but they were never great cold weather pieces. For the longest time they never listed the fill power of the down they used in the jackets. Even now the fill power is nothing special. Construction details are also underwhelming. I know because I've reviewed their clothing in the...
