Bison Overland Flatbed Camper Build…Das Gnomenhaus!

Aluminum flat bed tray is nearing completion!I also had some steel plates added to the frame where the hitch attaches. The brackets that came with the hitch were horribly inadequate!

Bison Overland Flatbed Camper Build…Das Gnomenhaus!

At this point I’m keeping it DRW. Mainly due to costs quickly adding up. I’m not sure it’s best for overlanding but I will be towing a Honda Pioneer 1000-5 SXS to get into the deep country areas. It reduces the wear and tear on the truck and allows for some amazing vistas!

Bison Overland Flatbed Camper Build…Das Gnomenhaus!

The Headache rack will have a mount for a spare tire and a 36 gallon fuel tank. These will be removable via the stake pockets at the head and around the trays perimeter. I‘m going to block off one port on the tank and move the fill and pump hole closer together. Try filling the tank or pumping...

I’m also having an aluminum tray built by a local guy in north Idaho who normally builds and repairs higher end aluminum boats. All aluminum is TIG Welded. Build time is two weeks tops! Here’s his fb lpage link https://www.facebook.com/BCMWeld

Bison Overland Flatbed Camper Build…Das Gnomenhaus!

I just got my finalized plans from Drew over at Bison. The footprint is basically gonna be 8 feet wide by 9 feet long with an additional 16 inch departure angle. Plus an interior height of 7’ because, after all, palatial garden variety Gnomes are really very tall. Having an aluminum bed made by...

Can anybody recommend quality aluminum tray manufacturers for my full-size F350

I currently have a 8’ x 8’ steel bed on my truck but I wanted to do something in aluminum with under the bed storage for Tools and other things. I am curious if anybody could recommend some good quality trays made for my style of truck. I’ll be mounting a Bison Overland Flatbed Shell on it...

Are there no side by sides discussed here?

I wonder how much the attitude has changed since I first started this thread? Not everyone that drives a sxs is a drunken maniac. I’m a wilderness photographer and fossil hunter, If going too fast, I could miss something really cool! And I don’t drink alcohol.

    DRW vs SRW?

One good thing is if you have a blowout, the other tire will help keep you going…?Unless of course it blows out as well

    DRW vs SRW?

Hey everyone, it’s been a while. What, seven years or so since I was last wandering through these forums and wandering about the country? Anyhoo, I’m currently running a 2021 F350 DRW. I just put a down payment on a Bison Overland flat bed shell model and I’d like to hit the trails once again...

Are there no side by sides discussed here?

I see everything but SXS vehicles on here. do they not represent overland travel and are they not used for exploration as well? I just bought a new Honda Pioneer 500 for bringing with me in my travels. seems like a good place to start some discussions.

Suspension upgrades for a '13 Tacoma and Fleet FWC

I have a 2012 F150 and 2015 Hawk. I used procomp add a leafs and firestone Ride Rights. I'm glad I had the redundancy of both. I was at the headwater of the green river in Wyoming when one of my airbags blew due to the bottom bolt falling out and it rubbed against my tire until it wore a hole in...
