2020 Ford F250 on 37s - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

MontyPower - I just want to give you some props on the build and the documentation of it. Rig is awesome, just like the one you had for sale a while ago. I'm a HUGE fan of everything you've done on this truck from the buying, suspension choice, wheel/tire combo, etc. Well done and I will...

    Dynamax Isata 5 28SS - Ram 5500 4x4 or Thor Outlaw 29s with 4x4

https://www.thormotorcoach.com/omni/ New 4x4 options available from Thor. Probably not the best setup, but still an option.

    Ez topper lift

I wonder if you could swap out the bed rails with a piece you could roll a tent end under. I don't know how to explain it, but very similar to a soft top on a jeep. Of course you'd have to unhook it each time BUT, you would then have tent fabric that runs to the outside of the bed rails and...

Earthroamer - Living full time questions

My first instinct is it's not a great idea to put 20-30K miles a year on a rig of that caliber. Not because it can't handle it, but why would you want to simply wear out something like an Earthroamer from a mechanical standpoint in a handful of years. Especially if these miles aren't miles...

    Dynamax Isata 5 28SS - Ram 5500 4x4 or Thor Outlaw 29s with 4x4

I keep coming back to the smaller murphy bed setup... The Isata 5 doesn't really seem to have any usable ground clearance.. the 4x4 would basically be for wet grass, slight mud, snow. The 24' platform (6 feet shorter) on a 4x4 5500 chassis would really be awesome. Bigger super singles...

2020 Ford F250 on 37s - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

MontyPower - DC Power Inc. has some monster alternators if your ever needing an upgrade. Quick search shows they have alteast 370 Amps Looking forward to the rest of the build! The superduty gasser platform is really a solid starting platform. I also agree with you, small lift big tires! You...

    Dynamax Isata 5 28SS - Ram 5500 4x4 or Thor Outlaw 29s with 4x4

More Thor products, which is unfortunate, but it looks like you can get their Super C's in 4x4 they also offer a Gas (7.3L) C class with a garage. It's basically the floor plan I posted above + a side load garage. Pretty slick as well. Still not the perfect combo!!! This on a 4x4 diesel...

    Dynamax Isata 5 28SS - Ram 5500 4x4 or Thor Outlaw 29s with 4x4

Something like this (bit bigger) on the 5500 Chassis would be really sweet.

    Dynamax Isata 5 28SS - Ram 5500 4x4 or Thor Outlaw 29s with 4x4

@jkam - I can't speak to the quality, but I think your looking at the wrong floorplan. The 28SS you have no problem sleeping or getting to the bathroom with the slide in.... 30FW has the issues you speak of.

    Dynamax Isata 5 28SS - Ram 5500 4x4 or Thor Outlaw 29s with 4x4

I don't have the money for one, but I'm really liking the DynaMax setup! It would be REALLY cool if they would put out a few more floor plans. I'm a big fan of the Murphy bed/Couch + a dinette floor plan you can find in the Sprinters. A slightly larger version of that on this frame would be...

    Next truck

Do you have a general idea of what kind of payload you'll be at? You can get the newer Ecoboost w/ 36 gallon tanks. On a 2.7 Eco that's some SERIOUS range. I think the payloaded can come in around the high 1000's. 2.7EB with 36 Gallon Tank and the Payload Package (2018+) would be REALLY...

    Next truck

I would have an honest look at an F-250 with a 6.2 Gas. It won't get the miles but the parts are everywhere, and they are pretty dang reliable. Another dark horse in this race is an F-150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost. Also proving to be relatively reliable, smaller and lighter, and get killer mileage.

2010 Sprinter RV. Lifted 4.5”. 920w Solar. 63gal H2o. 17mpg. Ready for Full Time Travel.-- SOLD!!

I am loving all the mods to this rig. We have been looking into Sprinter based RVs to accommodate my wife's/families desire to simply "camp" and my desire to explore a bit more. We also pull some decent road trips to visit family and such. I really wish this was the floor plan we were...

Which pop up camper/truck combination for global off-road expeditions

Does anyone know if OverlandEx would build a pop top flatbed truck camper? I can't help but think a flatbed based setup would best for the extended travel. Just because I like adding fuel to the fire, tuned 2.7L eco's will run with stock 3.5's :) you can get the power and mileage all in one!

    Expedition Vehicle selection thoughts?

Anyone traveling with more than 2 people still buying regular cabs and sticking belts in the dinette like a motorhome? Would cut length and weight for sure...

Full timing in an expedition camper.

I've been running this scenario through my head a bunch and the conclusion I've landed at is a used 30-35ft diesel pusher with a JKU/Habitat in tow. This allows for some "extended" exploring depending on the build out of the JKU, but lets you come back to a amenity filled home base. All of...

First Alaskan-Flat bed side door entry-A dream

This is an AWESOME setup! I'm not going to lie... A 10' side entry with a wet bath would start to rival some of the real big ticket camper options out there. It seems like a ton of people are always trying to create this balance between the Poor mans Earthroamer and something you can take up...
