    2019 Ram 3500 build thread

I'd be interested to learn more about how they come up with those numbers. It does seem kind of arbitrary. I suspect that it's more about liability than engineering. Tires are rated at 3,970 a piece to that's not the limiting factor.

Yep, it's 8.5 feet, same length as the stock bed. It definitely looks shorter though. I've had multiple comment on it.

2020 Ram 5500 DIY Composite Panel Camper Build Thread

It might just be the angle of the picture but the bag sure looks close to the exhaust. Any worries?

Spare tire smaller than the tires on the truck?

I'm really not worried about the legality of it. I understand it's not ideal. In 25 years I have had one flat tire. I carry a patch/plug kit. I also carry a fire extinguisher even though I've never needed it. A fire extinguisher weighs a couple pounds and can be stowed under a seat. A 37"...

Spare tire smaller than the tires on the truck?

I should clarify-definitely not a donut. I mean just using the stock full size spare versus buying another aftermarket wheel with a 37" tire to match the size of the tires on the truck. Keeping the stock spare in the location under the bed where a 37" won't fit. I edited the thread title so...

Spare tire smaller than the tires on the truck?

It's a 2019 RAM 3500. It has automatic hubs so no manual disconnect.

Spare tire smaller than the tires on the truck?

Looking for the collective wisdom of the internet about not running a spare that matches the tire size on the truck. I'm considering just running the stock spare and if I get a flat I can run the stock spare on the front of the truck. If you aren't in 4 wheel drive and you have different size...

    2019 Ram 3500 build thread

Usually just toys. I really don't like the toyhauler campers on the market so was trying to find a way to avoid buying a toyhauler and still be able to haul dirt bikes/4 wheeler and all the other junk to camp and have a bumper pull camper trailer. I'm also in a constant state of remodeling the...

    2019 Ram 3500 build thread

The stock suspension was horrible. I couldn't wait to scrap it. Thuren has a bunch of options and you can do just the front for around $700. With a track bar and rear shocks I was at about $1,400. It works perfect for what I do. I'm not trying to keep up with Raptors in the desert. I'm 90%...

Definitely. I thought you meant headlight issues from side to side not up and down.

I added the Thuren adjustable track bar to help keep the axle centered. Haven't noticed any issues. No adaptive cruise control on my truck so didn't have to mess with that.

I love the functionality of it. Not having to lean over bedrails to get stuff out of the truck is way nice. I kind of wish I would have spent the extra coin for an aluminum one but they are like triple the cost. I'm starting to see surface rust on some spots. I'm sure it will take decades to...

    2019 Ram 3500 build thread

Decided to switch it up. Went to 18" Method wheels and a 37x12.50 Falken Wildpeak AT3W. I wanted a little less aggressive tire than the Toyo's. Haven't driven far enough for a review yet. I do have slight rub on the front mud flaps at full lock. Will have to mess with it some more to see...

    Tire experts needed

I've been super happy with the camper. I think it's probably one of the highest quality domestic units available. Not that the US is setting the bar very high with camper build quality... We've had it almost two years, towed it 6,000 miles, and probably spent 45+ nights in it with no issues.

    Tire experts needed

Thanks for all the replies. It sounds like the consensus is either get different rims or buy tires loose and have them mounted independently. I really like working with the local Discount tire for free lifetime rotate and balance and flat repair. It's all stuff I could do myself but 35-37"...
