In order to replace (or take out for a repair) the transmission on these Unimogs, is it really neccesary to to pull out both axles ?

Sorry if slightly offtopic, but I wonder how it will work to have tree seperate seats in the cab of the Unimog? (Middle seat instead of a centre console) Can it be made to fit properly, with enough space for the gear levers? Maybe to tight ? The centre seat could maybe have enough room for a...

In relation to this, for the OM352/366 engines tuned to 200-250 HP, I wonder what is the optimum exhaust pipe diameter? I would think 3" is a minimum, but would something be gained with a 4" ? Maby in your case space at the rear would be to restricted for a 4" ? How is the sound levels from the...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Hi Ian, a question about the exhaust system of your truck. Can you describe /and or show some pictures how it is routed all the way back? Is it located inside the chassis rails ? Where did you find the space to install a muffler?

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Hi Ian I would like to ask you about the aluminium cladding material used on your camper. What is the sheet thickness used? Additionally, what alloy type (specifications) is used? I wonder if the use of high strength alloys (something like aircraft sheet metal) could make the use of thinner...

Hi Ian, thanks for your detailed description of your crawl through. Btw, as everybody says (except LukeH), Congratulations of finishing the build! I really want to tackle a similar build, but only time will tell wether or not that will realise.

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Hello I have a question about the "crawl through" between the cab and the camper on your truck. What are your dimensions (Length x with) of the opening? Is the opening of the same size as the back windows of a standard cab? (Just the middle post removed?) How comfortable is it to crawl trough...

    Project: Doitall Dodge

Well, get your point towards "full restoration". However, It is should be worthwhile to take care of and get those beasts running as long as possible. In terms of all necessary major parts those should generally be easy to get? As they use so many universal common parts. Anyway, at least I...

    Project: Doitall Dodge

Hello Metcalf My opinion on What you should do: Get yourself something smaller, newer and lighter to daily drive and pull the Dodge off the road. Then, just do a full restoration of the truck. It could then be good for decades for use as a expedition truck right? I am looking at 1.gens...
