G Leaks When it Rains Hard

What year is your G? Is the truck parked or do you get water after driving on wet roads? If when parked, the rhino horn antennae has been known to allow water into cab. Also check your sun roof drains on drivers side and make sure they are clear. Good Luck

My current situation (living on an island) requires hard side gun cases so I have for sale a lightly used Filson soft side gun case. It is the Style 212. 44-inches long. It is an older model but still in very good condition. No shoulder strap as I misplaced it in one of the moves. I would like...

Doing some new years cleaning and found the factory repair manual for the 1993 Defender 90 I used to own. It is in the binder with all pages and section dividers. What is it like to use a Waxed Jacket everyday?

I have a number of gore tex jackets that typically last about 3 years before the leaking starts. I have a 20 year old Woolrich waxed cotton jacket with flannel liner. It is my go-to jacket for trips back to the mainland especially AK as it seems to be raining when I am there. It does get dirty...

    Soft Shells

Costco soft shell Second for the Costco soft shell. I picked one while walking through Costco one day. It is a great jacket for $20. It is in the closet next to my Simms and Filson jackets but at 1/10 the cost. For an everyday jacket it is hard to beat. Hand pockets and Velcro closure at the wrist.

Moving to Kauai, in need of vehicle advise.

Honu, Shoots. I guess this is a highjack... Never been to the Baldwin cabins. We stay at the hunters cabin on DHHL land up the mountain from Polipoli. It is "rustic" Plenty goats and a few pigs. Used to be able to hunt feral cattle up there but I think DLNR stopped it. Since you are homesick...

Moving to Kauai, in need of vehicle advise.

Kauai vehicle In Hawaii - Sand Happens. I would go with the tacoma pick up. Just to throw all the sandy beach stuff in the bed and rinse at the house. Two kids will generate wet sandy towels , beach toys, boogie boards, coolers, beach chairs etc. But do as I say not as I do. 20 plus years in...

    Forester: ExPo Subaru Project

Driveability after lift Chazz, I am following your build. Can you detail what you did after you installed new struts and springs? So the suspension took a bit more back-and-forth than I had planned. The initial installation of the springs went pretty smooth, but I ultimately had to do the...

    Convert Freightliner SEE to Camper

Guys, There is a used Freightliner/MB SEE on local Craigslist that looks like it would make a good platform for conversion to camper. Plan would be to remove backhoe bucket and front end loader bucket and all mechanical systems supporting these. Basically, strip it down to flat bed and then...

    Kites-Anyone take one/some camping?

Kids and kites Weekend before Easter was the Cub Scout camp out. Our den leader brought cheap plastic kites for the boys. It rained all weekend. After something like 30,000 games of UNO in the tent we assembled the kite and flew it until it was to dark to see. My kid was soaking wet from...

Land Cruiser converts, please weigh in on your post-conversion thoughts

I have both as well Like others I have both. My impressions are the LC has much better after market support. There is no repair/modification you can't do after a quick search on MUD. I also feel the 80 series is better offroad than the G. My experience is mostly limited to sand and I typically...

    Manifold Cooking

Temps with manifold cooker I had some idle time so I used my digital thermometer to measure the internal temp of the manifold cooker. I hit a high of 166 degrees in an hour of stop and go commuting in 80 degree weather. Actually, it is more like a slow cooker. I have no doubt it will keep...
