    2010 Infiniti QX56 Soft-roader & Daily Driver

Most North American overlanding is done within sight of a MacDonalds so you should be ok.

Knock sensor relocation First Gen Xterra

Did this on my R50 pathfinder no issues. I’d do it again on my Xterra if it ever comes up.

Thanks for the invite, though it is a little off of our route. Maybe on another trip. If you ever head west look me up.

Are they coming for us...(Kia, etc.)?

You all forget that “the Industry” doesn’t want to sell us vehicles that last. They want to lease us a vehicle that we trade in every 5 years. They are after all a capitalist industry that is driven by units sold.

    2016 Nissan Frontier Build

Nice rig. Reliability is always better than fashionable in my book.

    Load E Tires

I’ve been very pleased with my Falken AT3w. Great in snow. Smooth on the highway, fantastic on gravel. I hate mud so no opinion there.

    (Another) Hardbody Overland Build

I installed an idler arm brace and a steering damper from Automotive Customisers (AC) on my wd22. I believe it’s the same as the wd21. It was a very noticeable difference on washboard roads. Way less unwanted movements in the wheel. Not a fix for worn steering components though.

New (to us) WD21 1992 Pathfinder build/off road series, came from E350 Camper Conversion

Thems good bones. Had a pathfinder(R50) loved it! It sadly died of rust. Currently on a 6 month eastern Canada trip in our WD22. Having a blast. A few mods I would suggest are a mild suspension lift, not for off-roading but for the benefit of less saggy suspension when loaded. I had good...

MOD Xterra or Sell for Jeep?

Before you mod anything or buy a different truck, just what is it about the stock vehicle that isn’t working for you? Start with that. You said you aren’t into rock crawling, why a 3 inch lift? You don’t need all the trick stuff for adventuring.

    Nissan Pathfinder 1999 -- advice?

No not really. All the usual rules for selecting a used vehicle apply. Don’t forget to crawl underneath. You can tell a lot about a car from the bottom up. On a long trip like what you have planned be prepared to do maintenance/ repairs along the way especially with an older truck. I am...

    Nissan Pathfinder 1999 -- advice?

Ok here we go.. As a previous R50 (‘99-04) Pathfinder owner (some of my adventures with it are posted here somewhere) I can say it is a great if somewhat overlooked overland platform. It has plenty of cargo space. The seats are comfortable. The ride is very good. And the 4x4 system is quite...

    Camper shell and OME

Never got a chance to weigh them, but the GDs were heavy when doing a rotation. They were on OG “LEGO” rims. Its almost time to rotate the Falkens. So far the wear is imperceptible. Fuel efficiency definitely went up.

    Camper shell and OME

I’m running the Falken AT3w 265/75/16LT load range E on my Xterra. Love them. Snow traction is amazing. I had to drive through a blizzard in northern NewBrunswick, Canada, for 75km I was in 2wd (I had forgotten to lock my manual hubs) and it was too dangerous to stop on the highway. they drive...

2015 Frontier Pro-4X: Blowing Cool Air While Driving

Could be an air bubble or a blockage, try flushing the system. Not that hard I did my 02 a few months ago after suffering a split heater hose. I would look for any wet spots under the dash to rule out a failed heater core. Any smell of coolant? Just today I fixed a leaking lower coolant hose by...

1st Gen Frontier engine life expectancy?

I’d run a supercharger if I could. I think it’s about 20 extra hp. You need to burn premium fuel, but I do that anyway. Just make sure that you have a good maintenance record from the po, and proof that the timing belt/water pump were replaced at the required mileage interval.

1st Gen Frontier engine life expectancy?

The vg33; has 4cylinder power and 8 cylinder fuel consumption. It is however reliable and easy to work on. It’s been around a long time and there is more than enough DIY stuff online that repair is fairly straightforward. This engine was in many Nissan models so parts are available. I have 2...

2002 Pathfinder LE mods for overlanding?

Yup. I have both. A 2000 pathfinder (there is a build thread here somewhere) now decommissioned due to rust. And a 2002 Xterra, the drive trains are identical except for the rear axle that is a little narrower on the X. Suspension layout is entirely different. If I could have the R50 suspension...
