Need help with minor electrical delimma

I got sidetracked being in the path of totality for the eclipse yesterday. So end of last week I pulled the old wiring and ran new since I had everything I needed already and figured may as well start with new again since I was messing with it. The new wiring works as it is supposed to. I did...

Need help with minor electrical delimma

rayra I plan on looking closely at the wires I pull (hopefully this afternoon if my schedule allows) to try and find the issue. I don't believe I got anything wrong the first time since the circuit worked fine for a little over 2-1/2 years before starting to give intermittent outages. My Blue...

    Bedside separation?

I've had a Leer shell on my Frontier since getting it new in 2012 and have had no problems. Never did either when running shells on a Ford Ranger and two different F150s. I wonder if its mainly an issue with the composite beds on the Tacos?

Need help with minor electrical delimma

Thanks again for all the replies. I'll have time tomorrow evening to work on it some more. Again I'm a long way from being a whiz at some of this stuff but I want to learn. pugslyyy, what you said makes sense to me since nothing works as soon as it is plugged into that port. Its a fairly easy...

Need help with minor electrical delimma

So I didn't have much time last night to mess with the port since my son's scout troop began it's Monday night meetings again but I did make some progress. I double checked the voltage on both the switched and unswitched port and got basically the same voltage from each. Using some scraps of...

Need help with minor electrical delimma

The accessories I've plugged in to both outlets include my Garmin GPS, a USB adapter and a phone charger. All are powered when the bottom switched port is hot but none work in the installed port that is supposedly hot all the time. I would think the odds are pretty long than both one port would...

Need help with minor electrical delimma

I don't think that affected the reading but to be absolutely sure I will check again this evening. I'm game to try any suggestions right now. Thanks for the reply.

Need help with minor electrical delimma

Thanks for the reply. Yes, when the red probe is on the center contact and the black probe is on the outer ring of the outlet I'm showing just over 12 volts and polarity is correct. What's perplexing me is that the power port I installed (and the replacement I put in yesterday) is the exact...

Need help with minor electrical delimma

So I've got a 2012 Nissan Frontier that came with all the 12 volt power ports being switched so they're only hot when the key is on. I wanted one that was hot all the time so I picked up an OEM power port a and trim ring to put in the unused dash opening where the aux input would be if it had...

    Trucks: Mid size, full size

I wish I could do a side by side comparison of my first truck, a '76 Ford Courier, with my 2012 Frontier. I didn't think about how much mid-size trucks have grown until we brought back my dad's old '94 GMC 1500 for my son to drive. There's very little difference in size between it and the...

    Entry level camping trailer

Looks like a decent deal. If you get it be sure to keep the caulking in good shape on the roof. At four years old it's probably due for a good inspection and recaulking of any questionable spots. Once water finds its way in things go downhill fast.

    Fat bikes

Christophe, I had an Apex, bought new back in the day, with the purple smoke paint job and BioPace rings up front. Loved that bike all except for the chainstay-mounted u brake in the rear. It would be fun to find one to take a lap on the local trails again.

    26r, 29r or other?

I was one of the early converts in my area going from 26 to 29ers. There was lots of info out there at the time saying they weren't as nimble on tight trails, the big wheels were weak, etc. etc. I found none of that to be true with my Stumpjumper Comp 29er. My local midwest trails are full of...

California to Nebraska in a round about way ... again.

Omaha is a pretty cool town. We love to go up and visit. Nebraska overall I think is underrated. The Sandhills along with the northwest part of the state are some of my favorite places to travel.
