Arctic and extreme cold weather gear

It all depends on you activity level. In my experience, the technical companies like Arcteryx claim to be exceptionally warm for no weight, but there really seems to be no replacement for bulk. I live in Edmonton, Alberta, and in my experience if you want durable clothing to stay warm in nothing...

Expedition vehicle transmissions: Auto or manual?

I prefer the feeling of my manual transmission off road and on road, i just feel as though I have more control over what the vehicle is doing. On that note, there are often times I wish I had an automatic, particularly when stuck in traffic. Ultimately it's personal preference. Though I do think...

    Ford F700 Build

I think if the plane were moved back so that the front of the ambulance box sat just behind the plane door it would look good (I know it would cut down on the space), and the front should be rounded. It looks good from the front though.

    adding lights into fiberglass topper

It sounds plausible, if you created the hole and then fiberglassed a kind of recess for the light. I'm not a fiberglass expert, but it seems like you should be able to get it to bond.

    Interesting Snow Track System

It would be interesting to see how they handle a ditch crossing, that its where I see this concept running into trouble.

    New Project (S15 Jimmy)

Hate to say it, because I love my S10 and those blazers, but I think she is a little far gone. The CPI system is known for fuel leaks, and these things are absolute rust magnets. I would just try and get your money back out of it. These trucks tend to start destroying front end components when...

    2005 Nissan Frontier?

Thanks guys! I am actually now looking at an 06' in similar trim, but it has the long box which I want. Glad to hear the feedback. What has been people's experience with fuel economy? Is it anywhere close to the EPA estimates? I'm not looking for a miracle, but I don't want to be wishing I had...

    2005 Nissan Frontier?

Hello, I am considering a 2005 Nissan Frontier crew cab 4x4 with the 6spd Manual. I have read a fair bit about the earlier frontiers, but am unfamiliar with these models. Can anyone provide me with some experience and opinions? I have also considered the Tacoma Double Cabs, but the prices are...

Ideas for onboard wifi and gps.

As I understand it your planning to use a cellphone to access some sort of 3G or 4G type wireless data network through which you can use the internet. Wi-Fi is a short range form of wireless communication that everyone uses in there homes. Most cell service providers (at least in Canada) sell...

How to make a good camper shell?

Well, there is no reason you couldn't just fiberglass the pieces together as a solid unit. Wood is hardly medieval and when used appropriately is exceptionally strong. From my reading, usually when people build fiberglass structures they build and skin the frame with thin marine plywood. Those...
