Elko NV to Bend OR - Anything for kids to do along this stretch to break up the trip?

Yes, we have liked this game in the past and for my older girls this would be ok but my youngest is the issue. She just doesn't travel as well as my other girls did at this age. As for the long route, we (unfortunately) won't be taking the LC for this and don't have teh range for some of that...

Elko NV to Bend OR - Anything for kids to do along this stretch to break up the trip?

I am seeing this a bit late, I missed the notification in February somehow, but Thank you! We are going to NV through Boise and are hitting some of the highlights that direction on the way there and were hoping for a different route on the way home. I think we are going to go back the same way...

Elko NV to Bend OR - Anything for kids to do along this stretch to break up the trip?

As the title says, we will be traveling from the Elko, NV area (Wild Horse Reservoir SRA) to Bend, OR in July and are looking for something to break up the 8+ hour trip with our kids (3 girls, ages 2 to 10), preferably an activity to get some "wiggles out" that isn't just a hike. We haven't...

What are your clever storage systems/mods/tricks (aka not drawers)?

Did they custom make that for you? I don't see it on their website (http://adventuretoolcompany.com/products/all/?page=1&per_page=30&Search=0), love their stuff though. I don't have a use for that now but with my old 2-door Tahoe, where the spare was mounted vertically inside the rear end, I...

    HT as a scanner?

The Baofeng's can scan but they scan very slowly at only about 3 channels per second. So if you have more than a few channels you want to scan you may miss significant portions of conversations. They can receive weather channels but don't have a weather alert alarm or anything.

New 80 Series owner with Tire Predicament.. Need Your Help

You don't even need the spring spacers for 285/75R16, they should fit without rubbing on stock suspension. Most people say you can get up to about a 295/75R16 with stock suspension. Personally, I didn't want to get quite that close and went 285/75R16. Or you can get some 285/55R16 tires but...

    Recovery Bag Recommendations

Says the guy who makes the best kinetic rope recovery bag on the market... :) It is dedicated for ropes but the Tow Strap Throw Bag by ATC is really nice and works as a safety device as well. You would still want another bag (or other option) for the rest of your gear though. I have a Bucket...

BaoFeng Choices : UV 82, UV 5R, or UV 5X3

I have the UV-5R and have been very happy with it although it sounds like the UV-82 or 82C would possibly be better for you since they are a little more rugged. When I was looking a good friend who is the tech lead for a good sized amateur radio group around here suggested I avoid the 8W hand...

    Boafang UV5RA programming cable

Supposedly cables with the FTDI chip are the ones that are reliable, like this one: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00HUB0ONK I got a cheap cable to work, but it sounds like I was just lucky.

    Passed!

I passed my tech exam and failed the general this afternoon. I didn't study at all for the general so that was expected. Should have everything ready by the time I get my call sign.

    Small footprint fridge? Whats available?

The Coleman electric coolers are thermoelectric coolers not refrigerators. So they can't get as cold and are not as efficient as a "real" fridge that has refrigerant, a compressor, etc. They are significantly cheaper though.

Tested's take on a Camp Kitchen (with RTT)

I follow Adam Savage's Tested online and they are doing some commercials for the Honda Ridgeline that have been kinda cool. Today's is "Turning a Truck into a Treehouse", basically adding a Tepui RTT and then making a camp kitchen/table. A bit of a different take on the camp kitchen than a lot...

    Mid-priced seat covers?

I can't answer about Trail Gear but since I am also looking I thought I would add this here instead of a new thread, maybe it will help us both. I am also looking for mid-priced covers (ideally no more than $150 for the front row), but I also want them to last at least a few years. I have...

Ham hand-talkie w/plug in 12V charger (not charger base)

The Baofeng UV-5R extended battery has a direct charging plug for it. You need to be careful about which charger to get though, apparently some chargers send 12V directly to the battery while others will regulate it down to the appropriate ~8V. Links: Extended battery example...

    Center console storage

Nice. I may use that idea since I have a couple left over boxes from getting this bag and boxes a couple years ago. The Cabela's "tackle utility bag with boxes" has 4 of these same boxes (Cabela's branded size 3500 by Plano per inside labeling) in it and is the same price or cheaper ($12 when I...

I finally have my radio in hand and am ready to get 2 of these as well.

    Baofeng UV5R "Builder Brackets"

Very late comment but I am looking for a RAM mount and noticed that in the first post you show one type of suction mount (2.75" suction cup base) but in the second post you have a different one (3.3" suction cup base). Did the first one not provide enough grip or is that just a different vehicle...

To Drawers or not to Drawers

Yes you can do that. Check out the "post up your drawer/storage systems" thread in the Storage Solutions sub-forum for more options than you would have thought possible.
