Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

I know what you mean. I would love to find a way to tie my years of experience in technology, life and hard knocks into a living that I could do that allowed me to stay on the road and allowed me to earn a living also. I would love to go anywhere in the world. Just me, so any adventure would...

Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

Answered above. I'm certainly not rich. I have enough to last me another year or so if I am very careful with my savings. After that I will see what new adventure is in store for me. I like the uncertainty to be quite honest...

Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

I'm not retired. I worked as a computer programmer for a lot of years and was sick of the life of living in a cube. I sold my house, cashed in my 401K, bought the truck and left. I will travel until the money runs out and then I will decide how to "reinvent" myself all over again. I live as...

Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

Yeah, I like the yellow color also, except there are about a million more out there just like it. Of course, that is part of reason I have been able to stay so "stealthy" and park just about anywhere unnoticed. *smile* The trip across the U.S. and through Canada on to Alaska was just amazing...

Hello All. My first post. Here is my simple custom GMC Cube Van conversion.

That is very kind of you my friend. I started out travelling like this in a small 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 pick-up with a fiberglass shell on the back for sleeping. I just loved it! The only problem was that if I had a problem and I had to move for some reason in the middle of the night, I...

Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

Since I don't have any inside heat or A/C, I travel with the seasons. Florida this time of year is just about the hardest area I have found to "stealth" or pad camp. I was told it is because the department stores are pressured to keep anyone from overnight parking because the RV parks want to...

In my humble opinion, less is more! Anyone else agree?

I would only disagree with the last one. The older I get (well over 60), the less I want to carry, protect, clean, move, tie down and store. I find that it gives me more time to do what I want to do. Just me though.

I also like that I don't have to worry about anyone seeing my kayak from the outside. I never have to worry about locking or protecting it when I leave the truck.

Hello All. My first post. Here is my simple custom GMC Cube Van conversion.

I am travelling alone, so it's not possible for me to ride in the back and drive. *grin* BUT, I have to say that the government has too damn many so called "laws" and I have no problem breaking the silly, useless ones at times...

Hello All. My first post. Here is my simple custom GMC Cube Van conversion.

Thank you my friend. I must admit that the older I get (well over 60), the more I like simplicity and ease. My old mind tells me to not spend my life planning or building, but doing. But, let me be honest, this truck design was do in large part to budget, available place to work, and tools...

Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

The answer is nothing. It gets about 12 mpg. Here is what many cannot handle. I have just changed my lifestyle to fit the truck! I now drive much less miles per day, maybe 50-100 miles a day. Most people need to run to some camping place on a holiday weekend and then run home driving 100s...

You haven't had a thrill until you have ridden out a thunder storm in ND in one of these tin boxes. Ha,ha.

Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

If you haven't, take a look at my box van. I have heard and I believe it from buying my truck that Penske takes much better care of their trucks than U-haul or other truck rental places. I bought my Penske off of E-bay sight unseen. Luckily it worked out great. Penske doesn't use a LT Duty...

Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

Yes. Most people pay crazy prices because they are afraid of parking elsewhere. To pay 50-100K for a rig and to then pay 20-30+ dollars a night is just outside of my budget I'm afraid.
