Sandy: 2003 Land Cruiser 100 Series Build & Adventure Thread

Hello all, I'm going to start out with a bit of backstory to get everyone up to speed. I'm not super far into this build yet, but things are happening quickly, so I decided to get started on a thread. Let's back up a bit and see where this whole saga starts. PROLOGUE: My real name is Tom. I'm...

FS: 100 Series DIY Front Runner /Gamiviti Roof Load Bar Kit

I have a load bar system that I made up for a 100 Series. Decided to go a different way and wanted to see if anyone else would be interested in this setup. It's essentially a DIY load bar kit that replaces the factory rack. Includes: - 4 Gamiviti roof channel towers with all installation...

Radflo Coilovers for 2005-Current Nissan Frontier (Also 2nd gen Xterra and R51 Pathfinder)

Hey guys, Holy cow, I tried selling these a year ago and I realize I may have been asking a bit much. So, with some new goals in mind and new things I'd like to do, I'm taking another shot at selling these. Hopefully my indecision on suspension setups will benefit one of you. They were ordered...

Is my BaoFeng rubber ducky REALLY better than a Nagoya whip?

So, I just got my general license and my callsign a little over a week ago. I have a BaoFeng UV-5R+ that my dad had lying around and wasn't using, so I inherited it and have been doing a good amount of talking on local repeaters lately. In order to improve the radio's general usefulness, I...

    A (Sort Of) Overland Honeymoon

Not all those who wander are lost - J.R.R. Tolkien Marriage. It can be said that this is one of life's ultimate adventures. Sure, I've done a lot of exploring and adventuring in my life, from scuba diving the reefs and wrecks of Florida to traipsing across Europe to overlanding my way through...

    WreckDiver's long-term Sig Sauer P320 review thread

A few days ago, I picked up my first handgun, a .45ACP Sig Sauer P320. I had been looking at a lot of guns for a long time, trying out a bunch, and trying to decide which to get. The main purpose of the gun was to be a woods defense gun, as I spend a lot of time in active bear country. I do...

Northern Montana and the Canadian Rockies, August 2015

One of my favorite quotes about adventure is: "Adventure is the respectful pursuit of trouble." I like this. I think it's integral to all overland and offroad travel. Overlanding in general is about taking the hard way. It's not about taking the most convenient way from point A to point B. It's...

    WreckDiver's ongoing Oztent review thread

Sooo, this is kind of a preemptive start to a review thread, because I haven't actually gotten it yet. However, I have ordered it and I am really excited. I want to share with you guys the best way I know of to get a good deal on the tent. I found out that ********'s Sporting Goods sells Oztent...

    Show me your sleeping setups!

Just like the title says! I've been thinking about sleeping setups recently, and I'm interested to see what everyone else uses. I'm a big guy and I like sleeping comfort. I know there are all kinds of setups, from bare bones minimalism to nearly 5 star hotel accommodations. I think I've...

Time to upgrade my lighting setup!

So I've been looking at adding some auxiliary lamps to my Frontier, and for a long while I've been debating which way to go. Gasp! Oh no, not more lighting questions! Yes, I'm afraid so. I liked the idea of the ARB Intensity clones, but after doing a bit more research and finding out a bit more...

Do I really need a dual battery system?

So I've been doing some thinking lately, and I had always planned to install a dual battery system in my 2005 Frontier, but now I'm not so sure. I know it's ExPo cool, but is it really necessary fo what I do? My truck is a daily driver, but also sees plenty of time camping and running trails in...

    RTT on Yakima rack system

So, I recently mounted a Yakima rack system (crossbars, Control Towers, Landing Pads) on the bed rails of my 2005 Frontier. I did this to mount my RTT. After a bunch of research I decided on the Yakima system because it would be easy to install and easily removable when I needed the truck...

Mounting RTT to Yakima Control Towers?

So, I'm working on a new way of mounting my RTT (CVT Mount Shasta) to my 2005 Frontier. I currently have the tent mounted on the old style Front Runner Bakkie rack, like this: I hate how high it sits, for a number of reasons. It's obviously adding to the wind resistance, and I just don't...

80 Series spotted in NW Montana

A couple days ago I spotted a really nice 80 series cruising up the highway north of Seeley Lake, MT. Nice silver/gray paint, lift, tires, bumper, snorkel, euro style lights. Pulling a really nice adventure trailer which I think had a RTT on it. If you're on here, nice rig, and you're in a...

A different way to display your photos.....

Looking for a good and inexpensive way to show your photos? A lot of people will get big prints and frame them. I wanted to be able to display a lot of prints at once. Here's what I did: I got a bunch of my favorite shots in 8x10's. Then I hunted around behind various shops and stores until I...

    WreckDiver1321's 2003 Frontier CC SC

Hey there folks, just got my new expedition rig - an '03 Frontier supercharged. Crew cab short box, auto, 107k on the clock. It is replacing a much loved but little trusted Land Rover Discovery II. This will be a sort of "slow burn" build. I'm a college student, so money is a bit tight, but...

    2005-onward Frontier front suspension

So I'm going to be getting a Frontier soon, and I have a sort of simple question. Do the 2005 and later versions have similar front suspensions to the first gen trucks? Can I re-index the torsion bars to achieve a small lift, or is this only on the first gens? Thanks!
