    Need Advice on Propane Tanks

The Lite Cylinder 10 lb model has my interest: the footprint is only about 9 inches dia. I just discovered you can buy them through U-Haul . . . next paycheck!

    Radio installation help

Have you decided where you want to install your antenna? If you don't need to thread through any tight holes, you can just buy the cable with both connectors already installed (no soldering required). It's too bad you don't have a ham store nearby. You really should get a look at an NMO-type...

Help with maintenance on a Warn 9.5XP

The classic issue with this winch is rust and corrosion inside the motor housing. It would be nice to catch that before it becomes a problem. Check to make sure the downward-facing drain is open. If it's plugged, or there's evidence of a lot of rust, you may want to open the motor to clean it...

    Do Jeeps have feelings?

I don't know about feelings, but my Jeep definitely knows when I've got money in the bank!

    No refrigeration needed

ANZAC biscuits! The iconic favorite of Australia and New Zealand. Kind of like a homemade granola bar -- it's a treat, it's nutritious, and reasonably shelf stable. The story goes that, during the First World War, wives and girlfriends would bake ANZAC biscuits to send to their soldiers...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Filled ol' Buttercup (the '77 Cherokee Chief) with gas. 32 gal tank took 30 gallons. I use high-test now since the price difference is only 5%. $122 ! :( I remember when you couldn't put $10 worth of gas into most cars.

    Please Critique my Com setup.

Oh yeah: don't plug your 12V radios into the one 24V fuse on that truck!

    Please Critique my Com setup.

Sounds like a nice set of radios! Sadly, the side mount on the M1009 is sub-optimal for your setup. You'll be far better served to get the VHF/UHF antenna up on the roof, and put the CB antenna on a bracket at far away at one of the corners. (Save that sweet side mount for running a big HF...

    Alternative Fuel Adventure

Hey, (not to diminish your alternative energy adventure, but) your rescue story made the national news this morning! Saw video of "Grandpa Hank" during the 10-o'clock hour here on the East coast. He was describing how glad he was to see another human: "I just kissed him. He looked...

    wheel guys i need help

Dunno about the six-hole design, but what's commonly called a "Soft 8" would look pretty similar. Versions are made by numerous companies. Summit Racing has some by Cragar, you can check their catalog online.

    Second battery charging question?

What I had in mind when I saw your post was this gizmo I saw at the local MicroCenter (computer store). Sima EZ-Jump Car Charger Cable Kit 18-Foot Doubtless there are other similar products. What struck me was that the label indicates it limits current to 9 Amps (which is why I remembered...

Nope. Just a guy with a '77 WideTrack winter project looking for ideas.

    Second battery charging question?

(D'Oh! I really misread that one! Sorry.) So you're saying you don't want to burn up the charging jumper by asking it to supply too much current to the house batt? Does the jumper have a resistor or diode or something inline to keep the current to a manageable level? If so, then you're...

    Second battery charging question?

I would think a little jumper would be OK, if it meets your needs. You should be aware that those things are usually built around a 12V gel-cel type battery. They're fairly easy to overcharge so I'd keep a watch on that and not necessarily just leave it plugged into the cigarette lighter...

Anyone else get bored and just paint their jeep?

This is the TSC Valspar Implement paint? I've got some I was planning on using on axles and suspension parts. Did you use the hardener? I'd like to wind up with something simple to apply but tough. I'm wondering if the hardener makes enough of a difference to bother.

    Show Me Your Winch Bumpers!!!

I've gotta say I like the look of your FSJ with the minimal bumper and Rhino grille -- looks very purposeful! The 'Scuff' plate, 'MT', and the embossed pie-plates are all nice understated touches. I don't know what the rest of the vehicle looks like, but the front view looks just right.

Harbor Freight Gas Impact Wrench on Sale

I was kinda interested in this just for its capabilities as a power plant. How does it run? (Smooth and powerful, or raggedy and noisy? Easy to start? Loud?) It would be neat to have a sort of modular engine that one could 'plug' into various attachments like generators, pumps, compressors...

    Knocking upon deceleration ??????????

OK, I'll offer up some guesses: So it's not related to engine rpm, but is related to road speed? That points to transmission, or perhaps drive chain. Take the simple-to-check stuff first: Does the geometry change when you pull in the clutch? (Does the rear settle a bit?) There might be an...
