How many of you ACTUALLY overland with your 80s or 60s

I sold my 93 which looked more trail rig anyway, and regretted the sale immediately. A year later and im on a 94. I intend to.keep it til it falls apart. I haven't found another vehicle the can beat it.

    Expedition 7

I made the pilgrimage a few weeks ago. Too bad you cant pay up to rent a creeper and crawl under and around every rig there. The Expeditions7 display is something all itself. My wife loved the hilux with fat Iceland tires.

Show us your Toyota 4runner, tacoma or truck.

My wife has mostly finished her 2020 4Runner build up. It s is a '"stormtrooper" white SR5 (although she hates star wars, but loves the all white and black scheme). First was a Gobi Stealth rack and ladder, then a ride up to Apex Overland for a Toytec aluma Boss lift and BMC to fit TRD wheels...

    FJ80 wheel and slider recommendation

I swapped my stock 16" for some method 17". If I had it to do over, I dont know that I would make the swap. Tire choices are the same unless you're going to 37", where the are more choices for 17". Factory wheels are good and can be freshened up. IMO, keep the 16" wheels, get a 2" OME lift and...

    A 1994 FZJ80 rejuvinated

Excellent photos! For one thing your pics gave me information on something I've been searching for since last night- the power steering vane pump studs. I thought I'd lost some hardware and now know where those studs go! Bravo. Look forward to seeing the progress.

    Looking for a particular hat

I clicked because I was shopping for hats the other day. I went into an antique shop near me and there was a complete early 1900's hunting outfit in red plaid with coat, bib and hat. I got to searching for a modern version of the hat, and found out about the Stormy Kromer brand. Funny how these...

    Unimog fire truck in Montana

As in you offer his asking price and he won't sell? Must be a ruse for his wife- "honey, I have it for sale, but no one will buy it! I guess I'll have to keep it"

    ARB rear locks

I saw this video and thought about this thread. The youtuber notes that his Harrop e-lockers disengage when he rolls backwards. The Toyota E lockers do not do this, but it should be considered when considering aftermarket lockers.

Would I be stupid to consider this trade?

I had a 97 4runner that I gave to my son with 340K on it. It's still chugging away. The 3.4 is a solid engine. There are few problems with that generation of 4runner, but the steering rack is one, so consider that you may be trading one used up steering rack for another. The 470 is the better...

    ARB rear locks

Center diff lock just allows for differential variation in a full time 4WD on pavement. Pressing the button for offroading only eliminates that, and makes it a typical 4x4 with open axle diffs. Adding an ARB will increase offroad traction dramatically over an open rear differential.

    WTS: REI Kingdom 6 tent

I have for sale an REI Kingdom 6 tent. It's in excellent, barely used condition and complete. I bought it from a girl that used it at a festival as she worked for Red Bull. She only had it on grass and slept in it two nights before being transferred to Austria. I bought it to introduce my GF to...

I've asked this in the past but with new members and all, do any of you drive stock rigs?

OP- I don know what you're referring to. Some folks love the build and the equipping, but going out and using it doesn't do the same for them. Overlanding is in vogue now so many want the rig so that they feel adventurous. There are a ton of huge Chevy/Dodge Ford diesel trucks in my area that...

I've asked this in the past but with new members and all, do any of you drive stock rigs?

I've either upgraded or bought trucks based on finding the limits of stock trucks. Lockers and fridges and winches have all been used and let me go places that I wouldn't attempt without, or would struggle because I didn't have them. but I don't have a build thread either.

Concerns with a 91 taco im looking at.. what do I look for?

The 89-94 model pickups (as noted, are not Tacomas, but better than Tacomas) are great, solid trucks and are reliable. Having had experience with the 3.0 V6, if I was shopping, I'd seek a 22RE 4 cylinder or plan to replace the 3.0 with a 3.4 JDM pulled engine. The 3.4 is solid and reliable with...
