    Oshkosh P-19 Crash Truck

I would love to know how much weight savings could be had by stripping all the ARFF related equipment and getting down to just cab, chassis, and powertrain. All those pumps, plumbing, valves, and tanks can't be lightweight...

    Horse or stock trailer conversions...

Thanks canuck and pigsammy! Were I to ever do this, I'd probably look for one of the trailers built for draft horses that are full width (there's actually one for sale on CL a few hours south of me), and build the whole interior out, skoolie-style. Unfortunately, to make such a project even...

    Horse or stock trailer conversions...

Good to know, I was wondering about weight. I take it that this even applies to the newer aluminum ones? Weight is definitely a concern for me...my truck is a Chevy K2500 (i.e. 3/4 ton 4x4), not a Kodiak. This means my max towing weight is 8600 lbs, and I'm not one of those guys who's OK with...

    Horse or stock trailer conversions...

...why do you rarely see them? There's plenty of cargo trailer conversions out there, but the google machine only turns up a handful of camperized horse trailers. I have several friends who have enclosed trailers, and the built quality seems rather hit-or-miss. I have personal experience with...

    Oshkosh P-19 Crash Truck

I've always thought this would be super cool as well...awesome to see folks actually building them out! If you ever DID get it stuck, you wouldn't be able to rely on the next cute little Wrangler with a 9k winch to come along and pull you out...but then lots of folks do this in Fuso's, Mogs...

LED light string/fairy light remote question

I'm 100% sure the remote is the problem... sometimes taking the battery out and cleaning it helps, sometimes not. It's why I want to do away with it entirely. Most of the time when it's being problematic, it's exactly when I want those lights haha. Sent from my bathroom using Tapatalk

LED light string/fairy light remote question

Yeah I'll look at the rope variety if my hacking fails. Stupid things decided to start working again once we hit Iowa. Maybe they didn't like the altitude in the Tetons lol. I'm still going to attempt to hack the switching dongle, see if I can sort it out. I really like the light color of these...

LED light string/fairy light remote question

Yeah I'm figuring you're right, since I cannot find anything online about doing away with the remote. Which sucks cuz my wife and I really like those style lights over the tape-style ones. Oh well. Maybe I'll fart around with em once our trip is done, and if I end up frying them, they were only...

LED light string/fairy light remote question

Has anybody done away with the stupid little remote that comes with all the LED string lights out there? I have them running around the inside perimeter of my truck camper and they're awesome...great for gentle ambient light while hanging out inside hiding from mosquitoes! But the stupid remote...

    Show your Thumper!!

First (test) ride of the DR after a little winter freshening up, fitting a Wheat wacker modded KLR fairing to it, and a complete rebuild of the front forks, with Cogent straight rate springs and DDC's. They are definitely everything they're cracked up to be! Ready for this Kodiak winterish...

    Mild 1997 Chevy 2500 build

Not yet really. It's still in the process of being finished off...still has exposed insulation and wiring in places, only half carpeted, etc. It's pretty basic though. Just a full-size bed and storage. I haven't done any furnishings or plumbing on this one. Sent from my bathroom using Tapatalk

    Mild 1997 Chevy 2500 build

I thought about it, but I just use an aluminum ramp if I need to put the bike or the 4 wheeler in the back. The big rear door doubles as an awning. No pics of it in use as such yet as the mosquitoes precluded hanging out outside in the evenings haha. Sent from my bathroom using Tapatalk

The Kennecott Mine, and some INSANELY huge icefall upstream on the Root Glacier. Seriously, pictures just can't do justice to how huge that vertical wall of ice is! Parked at a trailhead in Valdez Stayed with friends in Anchorage and went to the airshow. Got to see a F2F Banshee do a demo...

    Mild 1997 Chevy 2500 build

Well, got it and the kayak rack operational just (barely) in time for us to catch the ferry over to Homer back on June 15th. After 2400 miles around Alaska over 14 days, including plenty of frost heaves and a trip out to McCarthy, I can report that it holds up fine. Zero signs of distress...

YETI HONDO BASE CAMP CHAIR - $300USD

Now that you mention it, one of those chairs would be a dang good use of some quality lumber that you can't quite figure out what to do with. Here all I was thinking was scrap regular ol' 2x10... Sent from my bathroom using Tapatalk
