1985 Aussie Jayco Camper offroad conversion.

2 angle grinders, a recipro saw and about 4 hours I had the old chassis clear of all the old stuff. The pile of left over Jayco.. Then finished welding the spring mounts and made up mounts for the shocks. Also mounted the new stabilizer legs. And then finally new meets old.. When...

She's rolling! 33's will probably be too tall and the rims are the wrong offset but they are what I had hanging around. I'll sort tyre size and offset when I have the body mounted.

True. These ol girls are literally held together with staples and a prayer. The upgrade will allow it to get further than it could originally and we will eventually upgrade the interior to something built a little sturdier. Started the suspension mock up tonight. It's coming along nicely.

They sleep 4 adults or 2 adults on one side and 3 kids on the other.

Best offroad trailer for a large family?

Because of the tent size, those large tent campers are great for long stays but I wouldn't exactly describe them as "ultra capable". I'd also assume that if you're looking for an ultra capable camper, you would be setting up in a new location each night? For that I dont think you can go past a...

1985 Aussie Jayco Camper offroad conversion.

Yeah I'm going to modify it a fair bit. It will be off road. Not full off-road because I just don't think the body would last but it will be similar to the outback model.

Off Road Trailer build for my JKU

Looks like you're off to a great start mate. There's something about a trailer chassis with big tyres, they always look tough. We used our camper a number of times before I went ahead and built the kitchen and finalised the storage. Its a great way to work out what exactly you want and need.

1985 Aussie Jayco Camper offroad conversion.

Got to work trying to sort the roof today. Apart from the broken cable the winch wasnt ratcheting as it lifted so I decided to pull it and check it out. After stuffing around with it for a while I soon had it sorted. A stripped bolt wasnt letting the gear stay engaged. Replaced it, added a...

1985 Aussie Jayco Camper offroad conversion.

Hi all, 3 years ago I built an off road camper for our family to hit the bush and tour in. At the stage it was fine for the wife, me and the 2 kids (then 3 and 6 months old). Fast forward a few years and the kids are now 6 and 3 and we now have a 3rd. While I love our rear fold, space was...

    1978 G60 Patrol - Vintage Tourer

A mate came over with his sand blasting rig and we cleaned up the underside of the ute. I'm so stoked with how it came up. Looks brand new! She's all primered ready for a few coats of chassis black.

    1978 G60 Patrol - Vintage Tourer

A couple of years ago I picked up this '78 ute from a mate in Sydney. Its one of 4 G60's I own but my first ute. I drove it around for a while but now decided to take it off the road to "freshen" up a few things. Plan is to make a great little tourer I can take away when I do trips on my own...
