    Michelin XZL in 16"

Several of you had PM'd me about the Michelin XZL in 255/100R16 that I've been running. Very happy with the tires, but they're hard to get in the U.S. Noticed there is a set of four on eBay...

    Crazy 4Runner / Taco idea...

Has anyone thought of grafting the 4Runner tailgate's electrically-lowering window (and likely quite a bit of the tailgate) onto the back of a Tacoma's cab? Could be interesting. Just having more crazy thoughts... as usual...

Vendor Review: Mross Import / Unimog

Just wanted to post a review of Hans at Mross Import. I worked with him over the tedious process (over several months) of getting a set of five Michelin XZLs in the unobtanium size (9.00R16) for a Toyota. Though the process had a few hiccups (most of which were no one's fault), the tires did...

    1911's: Can you really practice with a .22 1911?

So, I've been skeptical for years. I've seen all kinds of .22 LR kits, each with drawbacks. The appeal of practicing with .22 has always been interesting, but not enough for me to obtain one of these slide kits, or a complete pistol. I enjoy and often have on my hip a 6" 1911 that I had built...

Air tank to replace spare tire?

Curious why no manufacturer seems to build this. Seems like a no-brainer since many have empty space there and would rather have a tank than a larger or heavy duty cycle compressor. But I figure there must be a reason this isn't on the market... or maybe I just don't know about it. Wouldn't...

    FS: (5) BFG KM2 255/85R16 - only 3,000 miles, 95% tread

Tires have only been used for 3,000 miles, nearly all of it on soft dirt roads. Tires look nearly brand new. Have been used for travel from point A to point B, not for rock crawling, etc. and no sidewall damage or punctures. $650 for five tires. Notes: Wheels are not included. Buyer must...

Gears & Tires: What are you running and how satisfied are you?

Running 4.88 gears on a 2012 Tacoma 4WD 6SPD 4.0 S/C with 36.5" diameter (actual diameter) tires. I'd say I'm pretty satisfied with it... but I'm never at the speeds (50+ mph) you guys are often at.

Partial list of 16" wheels available...

For the Land Cruiser braintrust: Did any LC have a 6-lug 16x6.5" wheel?

Looking for the "right" wheel to mount a set of Michelin XZL's and the manufacturer spec is 6.5" wide. There are lots of 4Runner / Taco / LC wheels over the years that are 16x7", but I can't find anything 16x6.5. Thought I'd ask here. I'd like to stay with an original Toyota wheel, though...

Hard to find five Michelin XZL's (or five XML's) in 9.00R16...

... where are people finding these tires? Or, alternatively, another 9.00R16 tire that would work well in an environment that is primarily hard-packed dirt roads.

Ready to buy an ARB double ground swag this week. Who has the best price?

Would prefer to support an ExPo sponsor vendor, obviously.

So, you relocated your spare tire. Now what?

Let's see the most creative ideas for using that new circle of empty space under your truck. Custom air tank? Place to stash backup copies of documents? Haven't seen a thread exploring this. Let's talk about it!

    Just gotta say...

... I do envy this group. Autumn of 2013, I really want to do something in the Americas... anyone planning that far ahead? (My calendar is literally blank after July 25, 2013.)

Toyota guy asking the Land Rover guys for a favour...

Hi, former Defender 90 owner here who's now driving Toyota stuff. But have a Land Rover question for those who are whizzes with VINs and countries and so on. I've exported plenty of vehicles from the US, but haven't imported many. A colleague (investment banker) living in Brasil is now moving...

2012 Tacoma Parts - Zero Mileage

If you're interested in a set of headlamps, taillamps, or other trim parts (grille, fog lamps, bumper covers, etc.). These parts are all coming off a brand-new, white never-driven 2012 Tacoma with twenty miles on the odometer and would be shipped from Illinois. Please contact me via PM for...

Expo Hilux Spotted (with paragliding and base jumping gear in the bed)

Looked like you'd traveled quite a distance and that trailer you had was pretty slick. Anybody here? Rare to see the 1GR motor (almost all Hiluxes around here are D4D's).

Weekend Drive to the Uganda-Congo Border

Not really a full-blown trip report, so posting here. Mostly a road update. Thought I'd post a "what I did this weekend" update... we took an alternative route from the quite good Arua-Pakwach road, instead going south at an earlier point (near the Kamdini turn-off) and going all the way West...

    Not a Taco, but...

... a wonderful example of a thirty-year-old Toy. It sold for high teens. http://mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=SC0512-125418

S/C Now Available for 2012 Taco

For those of us with 2012 V6 Tacos who have been waiting for TRD to release the supercharger, my dealer just emailed me that it is released. The 2012 supercharger and fit kit, if ordered together, do have a separate part number from the 2011 unit.
