Land Cruiser Virgin Here - Which 100 Series is "best"

My thoughts on vvti vs. non-vvti I just wanted to chime in here about the vvti motor vs. the non-vvti motor. I have a 2003 100-series and recently bought a 2006 100-series. I have a decent amount of experience with Toyotas...

    Help with 4runner roof mounts!

Everyone, I have been using normal Thule roof bars for my roof top tent on my 3rd gen 4runner. I am currently looking for an alternative roof mount that is more robust. My RTT requires bars that go across the vehicle (I believe the Tepui tents require mounts along the vehicle). My thoughts...

My Comparo: Old Taco vs. LC vs. 4Runner

My experience was only with the 80 series as my 100 series is essentially unmodded. Also note that I built my 80-Series a few years ago and I compare it to a 3rd gen 4runner/1st gen Tacoma (not a new 5th gen 4runner you mention). LC80 ARB bumper was about $300-400 (~40%) more expensive than...

My Comparo: Old Taco vs. LC vs. 4Runner

I wish my LC80 was only 20% more expensive. You state that both vehicles get just under 300 miles before fill-up, but the LC80 gas tank is 25.1 gallons (IIRC) and the 4runner about 18.4. That alone is over 25%. My experience was that gas was about 30% more expensive overall (sometimes much...

My Comparo: Old Taco vs. LC vs. 4Runner

I think that the Taco and 4runner are totally comparable as a domestic adventurer! There is absolutely no doubt in my mind the LC is a tougher vehicle....I will regret selling mine during the zombie apocalypse. I agree that the Mighty Land Cruiser is far superior if..... you are in...

My Comparo: Old Taco vs. LC vs. 4Runner

I agree, a 4th gen 4runner would be great. I really like the rear diff and cheap price so that precludes any 4th/5th gen 4runner!

My Comparo: Old Taco vs. LC vs. 4Runner

My 80 Series had same sized tires, bumper, winch, sliders, rear bumper, and a big roof rack. Remember those MPG numbers refer to climbing the mountain passes here in Colorado.

My Comparo: Old Taco vs. LC vs. 4Runner

So, I have seen many posts asking "which vehicle is for me". I just wanted to add my 2-cents as I have had some experience with some of the older Toyota models. I figured I would give a short review of my vehicles so others can save time and money (plus the hundreds of hours researching these...

Anyone heard of "WilderNest" roof top tents (NOT the pickup toppers)

So.....I bought one. I could never justify the price of a hard-shelled RTT at around $3K but took the plunge at about half that. I emailed the owners several times before purchase and they were very honest and open about he product. It looks just like a Maggiolina from the outside but uses...

Anyone heard of "WilderNest" roof top tents (NOT the pickup toppers)

I can score a smoking deal on one of these things. Anyone heard of them? Is it worth the risk? Cost is about half of a Maggiolina and they are local. http://www.wildernesttents.com/

    $180: 3 BFG All-Terrain TA Tires 265/75r16---Denver, CO

Selling 3 BFG All-Terrain TA Tires sized 265/75r16. These have 16K on them and were rotated at Discount Tire. One had a sidewall tear and I had to replace all four. Now I have 3 left. These are the next size bigger than the stock first gen Tacoma and 3rd gen 4runner and can be run without any...

SOLD!!: 2004 Toyota Tacoma Expedition Rig--Denver, CO

Price Drop to $14,700 Price drop to $14,700. This is getting close to my break even point where it will be cheaper to move everything to my 3rd gen 4runner and sell the Tacoma as a daily driver. I would kill me to pay to have this stuff taken off the Tacoma and moved over to the 3rd gen...

SOLD!! 2004 Toyota Tacoma Extra-Cab TRD 4x4 overlanding/expedition vehicle. 12x,xxx miles (nearly all highway miles) I'm sad to see my Tacoma expedition rig go, but with kids I can no longer justify owning this vehicle. I just recently purchased a 3rd gen 4runner.. This vehicle was not...

Please help me pick my '04 Taco overland OME kit

Thanks!! It may be a few months before the Warn M8000 winch will show up due to cash issues. Slee was concerned that if I ran the 882 coils without the winch, then my truck would ride too high and it would be very difficult to align. Do I need to wait for the cash flow and do it all at once...
