    Opinions: Pioneer tool mounting

The additional weight would likely overpower the struts that hold up the liftgate. The design of my swing-away tire carrier does not lend itself to mounting a shovel and pick. Besides, that's where I've mounted the hi-lift. IN the roof basket isn't really an option because that would eat up a...

    Opinions: Pioneer tool mounting

Howdy all, I have a '99 Jeep Cherokee with a full length ARB roof basket and am trying to decide on how to mount my spade, clay pick, and axe. I've acquired a Carter T-handle spade and a clay pick with the steel collar a la Camel Trophy as well as the Land Rover mounts for them. I was...

Se7en62's '97 Cherokee XJ "GROOT" Overland Build

Since it does not look as if you've re-geared yet, I'm going to throw in my $ 0.02. I'm running 33x10.50-15 BFG KO All Terrains and I had previously re-geared to 4.11s. Mathematically the 4.11's are bang-on for upgrading from stock tires and 3.55s to 33s. BUT I failed to take into...

    1997 XJ Purchase Questions

MY1996 and later were equipped with the 29-spline 8.25. This holds for NON-ABS equipped XJs. If the XJ is ABS equipped, then it would have had the Dana35. Prior to 1996MY if it had an 8.25, it would have been the 27-spline. IIRC 1997MY Should have the high pinion D30.

    Safari Snorkel Pre-Cleaner

Since this thread's been given the Lazarus treatment (not by me) I'm going to throw this question out there: I've got the Jeep 4.0L engine which, by all accounts and through the use of handily provided formulae, I've figured that the MAX intake cfm is around 370. This is if I've got it wrung...

    1989 Cherokee Laredo Build Thread

Looking good! I've been thinking about the FarmTek flooring for my roof rack as well. Do you find that you are able to secure your tiedowns to the flooring? (In other words, are you able to get the hooks through the holes?) Also, I did a little research on the Donaldson style precleaner...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

You can get just the AEV tire carrier and make it work with other bumpers. Paul from overlandjeep.ca did just that. You can also contact Christian Hansen @ Peden 4 Wheel Drive for details. IIRC the AEV carrier mounts directly to the frame and not to the bumper itself. The only issue that...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

My tires are still in good shape, which is why I went with limb risers. Besides, given that BC is a rainforest, there are more than a few low-hanging branches and the risers actually do serve a purpose out here. :)

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

There's no extraneous noise as a result of having them on. Then again, I have a full ARB rack and lights on the front of it so even if there were a little bit of noise I probably would not hear it. Also, an XJ is not exactly a shining beacon of soundproofing. lol

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Upgraded my limb riser setup. Got rid of the turnbuckles in favor of the same tensioners used by Safety Devices when they equipped the Camel Trophy Defenders and Discos. They are called Shroud Levers and are used in sailboat rigging and make the whole process of mounting and dismounting the...

Need help with wheel width/backspacing for 98 cherokee

In addition to this, keep in mind that (if I read it correctly) he currently has 1.5" spacers to accomodate the different bolt pattern of his current wheels. When shopping for new rims, get rid of the spacers and get rims that will fit on the original bolt pattern (5 x 4-1/2" or 5 x 114.3mm)...

    XJ ARB Bull Bar

Did you acquire the bullbar new? or used? And which version did you get? the older or the newer? I have the older version and there are 2 brackets that bolt to the chassis of the XJ and the bullbar, in turn, bolts to the two brackets. I vaguely recall having read somewhere that there might...

Overland XJ Build. Not my first Rodeo.....(video included)

That's what I was leading to. I guess I should have been more explicit. :) You would want the breather hose to sit where the snorkle and a-pillar run alongside each other. Probably on the back-side of the snorkle so it's well shielded from branches, etc.

Overland XJ Build. Not my first Rodeo.....(video included)

An alternative would be to route the breather hoses all the way up to the snorkle intake. For this, rather than running them through the airbox and snorkle, it would probably be easier (and more adviseable) to route them up the firewall and out through either the cowl or the driver's front...
