Anyone think it's about time that this forum section had a discreet Colorado/Canyon sub-section?

The Official Dometic CFX Fridge Feed!

The CFX can be controlled by WiFi so maybe CB/Ham transmissions can cause the fridge settings to change. This feature can be shut off.

New Dometic CFX-65 Flashing Power Light

I think the ArkPak support of LiFeO4 is a relatively new upgrade.

best AT tires for ride quality?

I like my Toyo Open Country AT II Extreme tires; surprisingly quiet on the highway given the tread and footprint and (so far) great on forest service roads.

To sway or not, that is the question

I'm not sure how easy it is to simply disconnect a Colorado sway bar; where/how do you fix the ends so they don't interfere with the suspension? As for disconnected/removed on highway with an RTT up top, my guess would be that the truck would lean very uncomfortably on corners. Maybe even...

    Weight management

You'd be surprised how quickly a truck can reach it's maximum OEM load weight (1330lb for my 2016 Colorado crew cab). When camping with me and three kids, I'm just teetering over the edge but 95% of the time it's just me so I'm OK. Kid camping is not off road and I do watch what extra stuff we...

Just another Colorado... My 2016 (gas) Z71 weighed down by ARB, WARN, Wilco Offroad, ARE and Dometic at the 2018 BC Overland Rally:

New Dometic CFX-65 Flashing Power Light

erstwild: the two prong plug hidden in your ciggie adapter (if it's the same as mine) also works as two simple blades to which a pair of female connectors can be attached so no need to splice the cable.

    RTT and Roof Weight Question

A friend owns a Renegade Trailhawk, also roof-load rated for 150lbs by Jeep and he has a CVT RTT up top; exactly 150lbs. It works well for him using the factory cross bars and he does go off road but the RTT looks huge on his little Jeep. Again, the numbers (if shown at all) are always...

    RTT and Roof Weight Question

It's good to see you are asking this question. Too many people will state "I did this and never had a problem". You are starting a maximum passenger and cargo weight of 1000lb for your 2015 Jeep. The tent weighs 195lb but boasts a carrying capacity of an extra 150lbs on it's own rack so the...

New Dometic CFX-65 Flashing Power Light

esrtwild: before sending the fridge back, check the ciggie adapter. Mine is a well-built unit stating that it is rated for 15A at 12V. It unscrews at the ciggie connector end; I thought this was to replace a fuse but it exposes a two pronged plug. I'd simply test the fridge end plug for 12V...

The Official Dometic CFX Fridge Feed!

Chris: I'm at a loss to explain why the fridge would be pulling high amps and blowing fuses other than a mechanical or even electrical issue with the compressor or an intermittent electrical short in your power delivery to the fridge. I would call/contact Dometic directly.

The Official Dometic CFX Fridge Feed!

Superduty/karmabiker: The use of big gauge wire is all about voltage drop; if the distance from the battery to fridge is short like in my case, small, 12V, wire gauges work fine as the voltage drop is tiny however, if you are running a fridge in the back from a battery up in the engine...

The Official Dometic CFX Fridge Feed!

karmabiker: I haven't checked my max amp draw but I calculated the theoretical max to be around 7.5A at the max rated 95W in the manual; my fridge is a big CFX75DWZ fridge/freezer. I run my fridge side at 3C and freezer at -17C. Your 20A draw spike suggests that there is a mechanical issue...

New Dometic CFX-65 Flashing Power Light

My CFX75 runs fine from the ciggie port with the provided ciggie port cable. I agree with the points above; could be my ciggie ports are stronger and have less voltage drop.

Advice needed: bending/molding plastic flares to fit

Hi folks: I just bought Dremel cut-off wheels! rayra: exactly my thoughts; see what it looks like a little overlapping and if I don't like it , just trim back to a parallel line with the edge of the bumper then work out how to fill the gap between the flare and the body at the open end...

    Lifespan of a Whynter fm-62dz

Elfmaz: All fridge freezers can hold ice and I think they all have drain plugs (my Dometic does). I've seen some guys use freezer packs; if the freezer is big enough and it's not full of food a freezer pack will assist the freezer, especially if its a smaller one that is taken out of the truck...

    RTIC 65 vs Fridge

Elfmaze: maybe apples/oranges; the power consumption for the 65DZ may be absolute max, both sides freezing whereas the 65DW maybe an average value.

Advice wanted on wire gauge plus overall setup

Another thought: have you checked the output of your alternator? Just test the voltage to your main battery when the engine is running and see what you get; there will be some drop across the ML ACR and a small amount across the wiring to the house battery. Deep cycle batteries will not...
