    GMT900 2500 Lifted Suburbans / Yukons Roundup

I ran LT285/70R17E (32.8") on my leveled (front keys only) 2008 Suburban 2500 with no issues. I'm not a "lift" guy, there's no need

    Thoughts on the Chevy Avalanche

I own both a Suburban 2500 and an Avalanche 2500. Both are 8.1L/4L85e. Unless you have a specific need for the Avalanche configuration, I'm not sure how it would be "better" than the Suburban.... they're simply a different body behind the rear doors, and that's it. Same exact everything...

Colorado/Canyon Duramax Diesel DEAD in 2023

According to a few sources (unconfirmed by GM as of now) GM is planning to drop the 2.8L Duramax for the new 2023 redesign of the Colorado/Canyon. Also gone is the 3.6L. Both will be replaced by the 2.7L Turbo four / 10 speed from the Silverado/Sierra. If for some reason you still want a...

My 2004 Yukon XL 2500HD LBZ

Nick at Duramax Specialties in Atlanta has done 250+ conversions on Suburbans. He's a good friend, we've done business together, he has my endorsement.

I've only owned several. ****** do I know? Heck, hand calculated GPS miles and as receipt gallons I averaged 10.7 mpg towing 10,000 lbs 1,175 miles including over the mountains from TN to GA in my 2008 Suburban 2500 6.0L/6 spd. Empty, it gets 16-17 mpg

That's really a perfect spec. 2011-2014 got the upgraded frame, brakes, bearings. That one has integrated trailer brakes, full trip computer, leather wrapped steering wheel with cruise and steering wheel controls... but rubber floor and (if you like that) manual shift on floor x4 and 6 passenger...

All GMT900 (2007-2014) 2500s are HDs. Look for "K2" in the VIN. Anything with 8 lugs is what you want. Keeping to LT285/70R17E (32.8") with 3.73s would return around 16 mpg freeway 70-75 mph. If you slowed down to 60-65 you might get 17-18 mpg. These are realistic numbers.

Yes, all 2007-2014 GM 2500HDs have the 6L90e 6 speed automatic, and have AAM 14 bolt full-floating rear axles. 10.5" in the gasser, 11.5" in the diesel. The RPO codes on the SPID label in the glovebox tell you which ratio (GT4 = 3.73, GT5 = 4.10) and G80 equals mechanical locker You buy a...

Well, if you're talking brand new (which is WAY more than the $20K metric here) that new 7.3L V8 gasser with the 10 speed in the Tremor is far superior to the Power Wagon's drivetrain. I'd love to have one

I'd choose a Power Wagon way before a F150, for overlanding. Daily? Might change that. It really depends on mix of use. For most guys, they're dailying their truck 320 days a year, and getting out there 45 days a year. May change the importance of the metrics. The fuel savings between a Power...

Simpler, cheaper to purchase, cheaper to maintain, cheaper to repair, similar fuel economy using MUCH less expensive fuel, no diesel mess/fuss/quirks, more horsepower, more efficient transmission, quieter better power at idle (no boost), LESS WEIGHT bouncing over the nose... want me to go on?

GMT900 Suburban 2500 only had the 4L80e in 2007, and all 2008-2019 Sub 2500/3500 had the 6L90e. No such thing as AFM/DoD on *ANY* HD 6.0L. The 2007-2019 6.0L had Variable Valve Timing, but no cylinder deactivation. VVT is a good thing, and GM didn't really have any problems with them. I own a...

But why? Is he towing >10,000 lbs on a regular basis? I own a LBZ (since new) and a LMM. They literally only move when they have huge trailers behind them. A 6.0L/6L90e is far superior when it's just a laden rig out on an adventure. Cheaper fuel (by a LOT right now, but over the past decade...

My opinion for longevity and reliability: 2007-2014 Silverado/Sierra Crew Short 2500HD 4x4 Standard 6.0L gas / 6L90e / AAM 10.5" full-floater with common factory G80 locker You've given zero reason to buy a half ton

Why are other full size SUV's not used in overlanding/offroading as often as Forerunner/Landcruiser?

The Isuzu platforms aren't what we're discussing. Full size trucks, full size SUVs specifically. I don't care what Isuzu decided for a small/mid platform. I'd never own one. And they've been discontinued for over a decade

Why are other full size SUV's not used in overlanding/offroading as often as Forerunner/Landcruiser?

You mean the steel encased parking brake cable? Seriously? Edit: I'll just add that in nearly 20 years owning 7 GMT800/900 (same chassis underneath) and well over a million miles I've never damaged anything hanging underneath my Suburban 2500s, Denali XL, Avalanche 2500 or Silverado/Sierra HD...
