    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Funny how people get wrapped up in overpriced leaf spring options when a factory coil swap is so easy and inexpensive with better ride out of the box than the best leafs and only better from there....

Absolutely love the X. A under appreciated vehicle IMO.

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Absolutely! Holes already in frame and everything. Very easy swap and less costly than a suspension lift for a excursion if you shop around.

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Why not bolt on a 05+ superduty front axle? Easy swap and many (all better) suspension options...not to mention the strength improvements with the Dana 60 under coils.

. You'd think that would be a standard part of a for sale ad, aye?

How about its fuel economy? I've debated getting a PowerWagon.

    Suzuki Samurai LWB Tires

A lot of euro spec tires don't meet our nanny state governments regulations so we don't get in on the fun. You can get them but it is not easy. I did in the past have connections to do so but that has long passed. good luck.

    1975 712m 6x6 ex-Racing Pnzgauer aka The Warn Pinz

This would have been a nice addition to North West Mogfest. I sure wish I was ready for a purchase like this. I have to wait for a "K" though. Good luck, I know it will sell.

best year ford 6.0 power stroke

I absolutely agree with EPA and every other nanny state agency ruining diesels and gas rigs alike. Urea fluid. ...******, really? Ethanol ruining fuel systems costing millions to the consumer, proven combustible energy loss high prices at pump for crappy fuel etc.....

I think simple air bag addition would fix the pay load issue with dodge, no?

best year ford 6.0 power stroke

TO THE OP. If you have some free time, Google Ford/Navistar law suits or 6.0L law suits and do some reading. That will pretty much put to bed the very few boasting how wonderful the 6.0 is (Er...Can Be). Somewhere you can also find TSB's (Technical service bulletin) on each year of vehicle your...

Best balance of mileage and capability?

Keep in mind. People lie (er...embellish) about mileage more than any other things IMO. Ever hear of the one ton crew cab 4x4 diesel getting "29 MPG"?. I drive for mileage too, I never seem to get to the hige end of "reported fuel mileage" YMMV (literally). Your mind may have been made up when...

Best balance of mileage and capability?

I would really research the Toyota MPG. I don't think you will see 22 from a double cab. I would bet closer to 17 unless it's bone stock, then maybe 19?. Lots of people seem to have trouble calculating and reporting honest MPG but maybe some will chime in here.

Thinking on 97-99 K2500 'Burban. Feedback?

Good choice. I have a 96 with the 7.4L and it's nothing special in the power department. Not enough to justify the fuel mileage. I love the rig and might end up doing a 4BT swap but if I was buying again and not towing a heavy trailer I would look to a 6.0L sub.

I apologize, I didn't see where this was about making big power. I was answering with a "best year"/ reliability stand point.

best year ford 6.0 power stroke

None is the short answer. If you fear the Duramax any 6.0 will be a living nightmare! Google it. You can throw many thousands at one and get it reasonably reliable. I always vote Cummins. 6.0 problems go way beyond heads.
