    Oman & the UAE

Yeah it is a great place but to be honest you really aren't supposed to be in there without an official Omani guide. There are a few key points to miss so you don't get stopped. If your serious the best place to start is with Mike Notts guide book...

    Oman & the UAE

Oman is a great part of the world to travel. I can't recommend highly enough getting into the Rub Al Khali, it is easy enough even with a single car if you play it safe and go via Ubar, refuel there an keep following the road & track west until it heads into the dunes, you can follow this sand...

    Oman & the UAE

Last October/November I ran a 9 day trip circumnavigating most of Oman in a 4000km trip. We followed the Oman Saudi border down to within 10km of the Yemen border through the Rub Al Khali where we completed the desert section by climbing Ramlet Jadilah which has now recently been recognised as...

    Oman & the UAE

Here are a few photos from a quick 3 day trip to Wadi Arbaeen in Oman and the surrounding area between Christmas and New Years. There is some stunning scenery in this area. https://cdr.smugmug.com/Off-Road/Wadi-Arbaeen-and-surround-area

    Oman & the UAE

Here is a short clip of some flash flooding in a Wadi near Masafi in the UAE, it is about an hours drive from Dubai in the mountains over towards the East Coast. This occurred around 5-10 minutes from the first drops of rain, in another 5 minutes the road would have been impassable. It was a...

    Oman & the UAE

Here are a few photos from a 3 day trip up onto Jebel Akhdar late August to beat the heat and to try out my Wife's new Land Cruiser. It is my 3rd time up there and I still haven't explored all of the different tracks but I am getting close. It is a perfect place to escape the heat in Summer...

    Buying a 04 G 500 w/ 150k Miles

I have had 3 110's & still have my 2002 TD5 110, my Wife had a 2004 D2 which we had for 10 years and sold it a couple of months back mainly due to similar reasons as yourself, it was becoming more maintenance intensive and overheating in summer, I also do all the work myself on the fleet, I had...

Utah in the fall 2015 - 9 days, 475 off-road miles, and 14 hours of digging! (PICS!)

Great report & write up. Out of interest how did he BFG KO2's hold up, the looked to be in pretty good condition. Do they chip like the old ones used to.

Fair point mate, hope it works out as planned as the truck is coming together nicely.

Cortez Rally Raid in a GWagen???

Very nice, with the money you have spent on it now would you not have been better off initially buying an early G55 with the 354hp engine to make the most of the mods you have completed.

Jerry-can rust and what to do

If it was me I would bin them, cheaper to buy new ones than sufferer the consequence of blocked filters, damaged fuel pump etc, not to mention them letting you down at an inopportune time in the middle of know where. If it is just sediment you could probably clean them but if it is actual rust...

    Front seat covers for G500?

Cover Worx & Takla both in South Africa both make good quality products & I think G seat covers, with how weak the Rand is at the moment they would e very cheap in USD terms. Check out their FB pages, I find there is better info on their FB pages compared to their website. They also make nice...

Why doesn't someone figure out a G55 front winch bumper?

I have not seen the Thor winch tray before, it looks quite promising but I would like to see it in the flesh to se how much it restricts air flow to the engine oil cooler & how it mounts. If anyone has detailed photos of one mounted to a G55 I would be interested in seeing them. I wonder if...

Pulled the trigger on 2008 G55 today

Congratulations on the new purchase. Why ship it, why not drive it. They love to be driven.

Why doesn't someone figure out a G55 front winch bumper?

Sorry the G55 doesn't have an intercooler, it is an engine oil cooler, with some fabrication & extending the oil lines it would be possible to mount it down near the transmission cooler. Use google it has been done several times before & then you can fit any winch bar you want. Without...

    G55 Build

Yes they all have seem to have 2 x air oil coolers, my 2000 G55 has both. At one stage I was interested in fitting a winch but decided against it due to the hassle of trying to re-mount the engine air oil cooler. My G55 is not my primary off roader either so it did not worry my to much not...

    What am I looking at?

They are probably not real common on G Wagons as the anti roll bars limit articulation, I am guessing for these to have been fitted there is a fair chance the anti roll bars have been removed to allow more articulation.

    WTB G-Wagon 2005+

Mike I have a 2000 G55 with the exact same interior as you have pictured, it even has the same coloured seats. It was & still is an immaculate low milage vehicle when purchased about 2 years back with 59000km & now has just under 108000km. I do all my own maintenance & to be honest it has not...

    Towing with a G320?

If you are after a tow vehicle why not go for a G500 or G55 instead of the G320. My 2000 G55 is a fantastic tow vehicle, I just wish it had the later model G55 brakes. It also has a 40mm lift with ORC springs which work a treat full loaded, they are a little stiff when empty but with a...
