    Oliver Factory Tour Photos

Thanks, three years from now my wife and I will be hitting the road full time. We plan on adding solar in the near future. We use the Oliver as base camp and go exploring in the Sprinter. I can fit 4 bikes in the back. The sofa folds out into a bed. I have an Aluminess rear bumper on...

    Oliver Factory Tour Photos

We have the one and only Oliver Sport that was built in the first run of Oliver Trailers. It was their attempt to offer a lower cost Oliver by using a steel frame and deleting some of the standard features. It sat in a corner of the factory until we bought it last year.

    Looking for a good FJ-80 91-93

When I bought my 80 (through a member here) he had removed the plastic shroud around the steering column because it had started to make an annoying squeak on the bumpy roads/trails in Baja where he spent a lot of time. Scott

    Ladder to roof rack

When I lived in San Diego, I stopped by Aluminess for another matter and they seemed open to doing custom work. http://www.aluminess.com/ladders.htm I'd be interested in what options you find as well, I know that there are JDM ladders that someone on Mud can get, but when I checked with him...

    Land Cruiser camper shells?

To get an idea of what it would cost to produce a custom pop-top, I ran something by my brother-in-law. He has a plant in TN and manufactures whitewater kayaks. They're in the process of buying a large thermo-molding oven that could easily handle the size of a poptop. What would be needed is a...

    1977 FJ40 California SMOG

Glad I'm not the only one they're picking on...I moved to Texas from CA over a year ago, have told them twice now that my 80 is registered in Texas, have included copies of my Texas registration, and yesterday I received another notice that my CA registration is overdue. And yes, it is mailed...

    1977 FJ40 California SMOG

Back in the early 90's I was stationed in California with the military. I bought a 68 Mustang fastback, it had the original engine but the smog equipment was long gone. I tried like hell to do everything to meet California standards and get it registered, and finally threw in the towel and...

    Land Cruiser camper shells?

Now that the Element no longer comes with a sunroof in any version, I'm wondering what direction Ursa Minor will be taking. I have an AWD Element with a sunroof, my wife and I thought about the poptop but decided that we had the 80 for camping so it didn't make much sense. I know we'd...

    Eezi-Awn 1400

Looks like I'm out:( I thought I had a plan for it to work, but I have to have the option to carry whitewater kayaks so I need to wait for a Maggiolina. Scott

    Ciudad Valles, Mexico -

Day 4 was a rest day, and we went to Xilitla. We left early in the morning and arrived at Las Pozas, the surrealist home that Edward James built in the jungle just outside the town. I didn't know what to expect, but the place really captivates you, and I think you could walk through it a...

The new Hero is such a great boat. It pretty much lowers the class of river by a factor of one.

    Ciudad Valles, Mexico -

Day 3, we drove up through some cane fields to get to the put in for the Ojo Frio. I was pretty nervous about today, the drops would be smaller, but there were lots of trees and vines in and around the river, which required some pretty tight lines and some quick moves to avoid. There were also...

    Ciudad Valles, Mexico -

It's a short drive from the campground to the put in for the upper section of the Micos. We put in below the 70 foot water fall. Today we would be running the six drops below that, break for lunch, and then run the lower section. If you're experienced and have done it before, it takes...

    Ciudad Valles, Mexico -

"I really need to work on my setup". A million thoughts are racing through my mind, but at the moment, this is the most appropriate one. I'm upside down in a violent current, my paddle is getting pushed and pulled in multiple directions, and I can't seem to get it to where I need it to be...

    80 series spring/weight questions

My 80 has the 44 gallon Long Ranger aux tank, Slee rear bumper with a 305 MTR on the tire carrier, Hanna sliders, 45l Engel, ARB up front with 10K winch, and and AO roof rack. No RTT, but on the rack were two La Fuma chairs with a 60 inch hi-lift on the side of the rack and an EZ-up on the...
